Hi, just found a liverlike substance in horse's droppings whilst poo picking. Gross, any ideas , should I call the vet. Horse seems fine

i wouldnt call the vet unless the horse suddenly seems not so fine! If you were poo picking in the field it could have not been from anything the horse produced, how fresh was it? :S

It was fairly fresh as poo pick every other day and was definitely in they poo i.e came out of the horse !!

Did you by any chance take a photo, you can send a photo (or the stuff itself) to Chris Dolby at Abbey Diagnostics who will try to identify it for you.

Could it have been a big blood clot? I'd look carefully at all poos for the next few days but if all are normal, I'd just chalk it up to one of those things. If you find any more though, keep it, photograph it and get the vet to have a look.
