That was me, yesterday. I went to the hunt meet on foot for a change as my last mounted day was Thursday. As I was planning a day as a passenger in someone else's vehicle I allowed myself 2 large glasses of port at the meet, on an empty stomach. Being only little it went straight to my head- but that was fine, as I settled into the back of the landy with the plan of not getting out much and taking a few photos. But it all went wrong. We had a call over the radio almost immediately to say that someone had been kicked and their leg was broken. So we drove across a field to find the poor guy still on his horse with a very broken leg. I held the horse while he was removed and taken away in an ambulance. This left me with a strange 17 hand hunter and instructions to ride him back cross country to the kennels. Still rather worse for wear and hatless, I climbed aboard and we set out across the fields with me swaying in my very long stirrups, totally lost. After narrowly avoiding an active aerodrome and having taken several detours after getting stuck in a couple of fields, I eventually found a road which eventually led me back to the kennels in one piece! Lovely horse though, ten grand's worth apparently which I can believe! He was an absolute gem and I would have liked to have taken him back with me! (Don't do this at home by the way)
