Dry flaky scabby skin in girth patch hair peeling off...

Can anyone help me? My mare is just starting to be broken and exactly where the girth is are three small 50p size dry flaky scabby patches. I have obviously laid off on her training but was wondering if anyone can recommend anything that will help it heal? It is not actually cut just skin level. The hair actually peels off. Any advice would be welcome thanks x

it could be just where she has got sweaty under her girth and you have not just brushed it well enough or it could be a little mud fever. wash her in hibi scrub dry well then apply a tea tree cream or aloe vera that will soothe and protect!

Hey,
I have the same thing with my sensetive skinned arab
Clean it with salt water if it an pen wound then when it dries over use some sergical spirit to harden the skin it really works then get a like sheepskin fluffy girthslave thing they r only a couple of quid they r a good buy!

Calendula is very good for the skin, you can feed it or apply in a cream. Make sure your girth is very clean and not rubbing. Leather girths are better than synthetic ones as they absorb some of the sweat. Girth sleeve may help but wash regularly. Check the fit of your girth and make sure its not pinching skin or being over tightened.
Keep girth area clean, well brushed.

I hardly dare mention it, but if it is a girth gall human pee is a very good old fashioned remedy. Sorry if anyone is offended.

hi we have found a great spray on product called stop itch 365
its for all skin iritation problems it will also stop fungal infection problems.
and its a natural product no chemicals,no toxins,no smell.
and it does'nt sting when applied.
we got a 500ml bottle for £10 and he gave us free P&P.
