been there, done that, got every ruddy dog food tshirt. Except Bakers & Pedigree - never stooped that low ;)

Fed raw for years but it isnt practical for me just now. Ive been feeding a locally produced, grain free, duck recipe but it is pretty expensive. Im not keen on skinners although i know a lot feed it with good results. I prefer a food that has a decent meat source as the main ingredient. So, whats new out there? Any new brands that are good?

I don't know aboujt new but a lot of us feed millies wolfheart. It is expensive but it costs me about £5 per week per dog which I think is a fair enough spend.

I will plug Pooch and Mutt, a brand I had never heard of but cheekily wrote to last year when I was running a fundraiser for Siberian husky welfare, they sent me 60 bags of dog food absolutely free. I won a couple back in my own raffle (LOL) and it turned out to suit my dogs really well. I normally feed raw but keep a bag of kibble in for treats and convenience and have stuck with them since, for the quality as well as their generosity.

I got excited about that but it has the cursed beet pulp in it!

And a bloody French bulldog on the label - I have to go LALALALALALA and pretend I don't see it when buying it. :p

Before that I was feeding AATU which is super high meat content but the price would have been nuts if feeding as a sole diet.

I was at a pet manufacturers trade show last weekend and two new brands I spotted were Edgard Cooper and Beco (I knew about the latter's very good poo bags but didn't know they did food!) I also like some of the weird European brands from Zooplus, Markus Muhle is technically very good for its price point but makes the big white dog astonishingly farty so we went back to Pooch and Mutt.

My YO has a French bulldog - I find the dog totally fascinating because she has THE most undershot jaw I have ever seen in a dog :D

As she lives on a farm she is a cracking little dog though who spends her time trying to terrorise the goats :p

Sorry, totally off track there!

Simpsons Premium here - for the working collies and the GSDs. They do a 60:40 version (which I used to feed but my dogs don’t like the flavour of the only one they now offer) and an 80:20 but that one is too rich for my lot.

I tried Millie’s Wolfheart but they didn’t like it and while they loved Markhus Muhle it made my shepherds sick.

I feed Tails - it smells AMAZING and so much fresher than some of the other dry brands I've tried. I think it's £13 for a month's supply. They have an offer on ATM which is awesome too - £2 (inc. delivery) for as much food as they calculate your dog needs. I got four huge bags for £4 as sister took advantage too... would highly recommend.

I feed working dog food company grain free (its re-labelled and sold locally at my pet store but the same thing), high meat content and quality for the price (large greyhound)

Aldi sell a brand called Langhams, I have bought their hypoallergenic and their grain free - no nasties listed in the ingredients as far as I could see. Small kibble though and sold in 1.5 kg bags so probably not practical for big dogs. Suits my two Cavaliers, including one who is prone to digestive upsets. Otherwise I do know Chappie is rated by many vets.

We feed ours Burns. It's always eagerly eaten, the hyper behaviour has reduced, and so have the size of the poos. That means, in my mind, it isn't full of additives and fillers, and more is being digested. Thumbs up from us!

I have just tried their quote and it worked out to £37 a month for my two very small dogs, so I was a bit surprised it was that much - I tried a Butternut quote and that wasn't much more. Might still try it though as it sounds good.

Burns seems to have sorted the AG issues we had with one and he loves it-and even though he's a retriever he's not massively food mad and would occasionally leave a meal with the other types of food. The other dog I have to feed more per kilo than the retriver to keep weight on him but thats just him I think, had issues with him holding weight with Canine Choice (which I forgot about!).

We feed Seven dog food (https://sevenanimalfeeds.co.uk/) to our border collie and lurcher. The lurcher was on raw prior to that as he would not eat up other food. They both love it and are doing really well and look great. They seem calmer on the venison flavour than the other flavours (but by no means wild on the others!) but my testing was not hugely scientific so it could have been a coincidence. I also recommended Seven to two friends. One who had an old border collie who was looking very poor and also another who had a dog with long standing itchy/allergy issues. Both love the food and are now super healthy/itch free. We came across it in our local horse feed store but have managed to find it online since (but not the venison flavour unfortunately, although I haven't looked around to check recently).

My dog does very well on Canagan. Really rate it. Have previously fed Simpsons premium and found it to be equally good, but the Canagan is easier to source near me.

Another vote for Barking Heads here, 2 flatcoats doing well on it. They didn’t get on with MWH sadly.
Not keen on the silly name but the food is good and no beet pulp Clodagh!

LOL! Only as older lab gets a scurfy coat on it. Ours look great on MWH although I changed to a more expensive one and they have all gone skinny, is that becuase the more veg one is more fattening or because their work load has increased?

Goodness knows Clodagh, dog food is a minefield! I got the heads up from you about beet pulp and have rejected many foods because of it.
I feed kibble with a slice of Forthglade wet food. I swapped my older dog onto the Just Meat instead of the one with added vegetables because she looked a bit fat and it worked well, so you may be right.
I am about to take on a rescue and heard just now that she is on MWH! Hope I can change her to Barking Heads. It’s so much easier if everyone has the same.

Our BT is not food orientated and i struggled a bit when he was a pup but he has taken to MWH and looks good on it. Daughter's Viz, who is also very fussy has moved onto it and now eats well and has put a bit of weight on (looked too ribby before) and looks good too. Both dogs have smaller, firmer poos too.
