My D has very dry hooves. Farrier has suggested a good moisturiser/hydrator. He has Pro Hoof applied, by Naff, and a Biotin supplement. What else can I do? He keeps shoes on without a problem, tried him barefoot but it wasnt for him. Thankies in advance.

When there has been a prolonged spell of dry weather I soak my pony’s feet every so often. She will stand with one foot at a time in a shallow trug of water which I did a couple of days before my farrier came to do her. Otherwise I wash her legs (she’s grey 🙄).

My farrier said Kevin Bacon is the only one he would recommend.

ETA I was sceptical, but it does seem to be helping (been on it a couple of months now: I use the hoof oil version).

I’ve never used anything other than Kevin Bacons. Only ever had two farriers and it’s what they both recommend

Aqueous cream, cheap and cheerful and does the job. We had almost a month of virtually no rain and my horse didn't crack his feet or dtop shoes thanks to daily aqueous cream.
