Right this might be a little odd so sorry if its in the wrong place. Couldnt think of the best place to put this. Ax you guys will have read recently Gucci has been going through a number of choking episodes on haylage and occassionally on hard feed.
I was wondering if you guys think this may be connected to the choking.
Right I have thought nothing of this for a while but after today I wonder if its connected. Gucci is normally ridden in a loose ring french link but she has started leaning on it. She had always had a nice moist mouth with it but of late she hasnt had the wetness in her mouth. I changed her bit to a snaffle with a lozenge in it to see if it would stop the leaning and get her moist in the mouth again (is a warmer metal bit). Again no saliva. Tried the french link back in and she bone dry. She is working well but today she was a little off (poss due to her bonded friend heading to a new home) When I took the bit out her mouth its as dry as it is when its hanging up on the bridle rack.
She chokes on haylage but hasnt so far choked on the soaked haylage only tried it once. She want keen on eating it but did finish it fine.
I was wondering if the choking and the dry mouth while riding might be connected? What do you guys think or do you have any suggestions?
