My setter has had a few patches of dermatitis, which cleared up well with Fuciderm gel, but he keeps scratching one of the bare patches - mostly at night. The red, angriness has disappeared, and the vet is happy that the acute dermatitis has resolved but the skin is very dry and flaky, and I think this is why he is scratching. Anyone got any bright ideas about what I can do to make him more comfortable? He also scratches when he gets cold (He's a mega wimp) and if he gets upset - I'm managing those issues by putting a coat on him when we're outside, and not having other dogs in HIS house, but I feel that I need to do something to sort out the dryness caused by the steroid cream.

Something as simple as a water-based moisturizer (E45?) with a thunder shirt on top to stop him licking?

Poor Bruno . . .

He has an anxiety wrap, and it makes him worse. The moment I get it out, he starts shaking and legs it! We've settled for a waxed jacket - he feels that is acceptable.

I've tried E45 - not sure if it's helping, but it's sure as hell getting everywhere! Brown leather sofas/dog covered in white cream...

Is it wrong that I laughed at this?

I wish I could be more creative . . . I can't think of anything you could apply that he wouldn't lick off . . . I guess the only thing is Aveeno baths . . . I loved in the bloomin' things when I had chicken pox (as an adult - I wouldn't wish that on anyone) . . . oatmeal based, great for skin.
