Du you think this horse looks healthy?

I have bought most of my horses alone with vet of course
but it is difficult to leave a horse which have not an easy life and for that case i wish I had a contact that can go with me........

Hi,

If you're considering him then - ring around some yards/instructors and ask for HHOers who are local to go with you - even a good non-horsey friend who you can talk to and is prepared to drag you away if you're uncertain can help.

Check out local R/C either though Facebook or by ringing - see if theres anyone prepared to come with you - it's worth a shot - or will your vet come out with you? TBH the horse doesn't look too bad for the time of year - the photos aren't brilliant - I brought my lad a year ago in worse condition - he was good on the ground - still is and a perky pony to ride.

I'm in Nottingham otherwise I'd be more than happy to some with you :).

No I haven't googled yet but what me make crazy is the seller will reduce the price drastic for a quick sale
That make me unsure

He have contacted me after i have an ad on preloved that I'm looking for a new horse

Not in a condition that makes me scream 'omg he is rescue thin'. Little on the lighter side, muscle wastage but pictures are pretty bad so would have to see in the flesh. Way over priced, probably wouldn't pay more than £1500 based on them pictures and that advert, again depends on what the horse is like in the flesh. Coming out of winter he seems okay, coat is quite shiny, not really a cause for concern just not good. Correct schooling and good grub can do wonders but I'd still do a 5* vet check if your planning on buying it.

maybe I should made a thread to look for someone who are able to come with me on the first viewing because its my first buy in the UK so in Germany i have bought 3 horses on my own with vetting never been a problem
But MAYBE someone has time and live in my area to can go with me

If he was mine i wuld cry.......

My Tb has more top line on him than that and he's been out of work for 2 month ( Just a holiday) he looks like a nice sort though, lets us know how it goes if you go and see him. I would come with you but I think I am to far?? x

so nice that you made me an offer too!

But yes its too far the west midlands from Dover

I will see him maybe I try to ride him (worry) he looks so skinny but seller promised me that he is in good health condition and he have nothing to hide so I can bring a Vet with me....

OLDENBURG are you from Germany or love you the horses from Oldenburg??:)

Be careful, I think it looks like a dealer based solely on the basis that dealers' riders always seem to have that same defensive seat.

Am sure I've seen that user on Preloved before under the guise of a dealer, be careful OP.

I'd also be seriously haggling them down on price. Unless that horse has just had crap photos shoved up there and is much better in the flesh, it doesn't look worth over £2000 in my eyes.

He have told me that he is looking for less than in the ad is priced

That is definitely not a private sale. Dealers who are good don't pretend to be a private seller. Poor horse, he looks nice, but I would be very wary.

seller responded by mail with this:

"I lost my mare this year had to have her put to sleep if killed me I'm selling him as I haven't got the time for him I use to have he had no tack as I have one lot for him and my other horse if I had the time he would not be going but i am a tb man and that the boy I will keep who is your vet but yes fine I haven't anything to hide the sooner the better as only been able to ride him a few times a week "

greets

TbLover, that email is (almost) worse than the pictures on the advert... I would, personally, leave well alone. If you really like the look of the horse though I'd echo others' suggestions to take someone dispassionate with you. Good luck with your search.

My feeling to the horse is good but I think the seller strange

SO if anyone has time in the next few days and live in my area please give me a shout I like to view the horse with someone together.....

Greetings

Is the horse healthy? Well the answer to that depends on your definition of healthy! He is a bit poor and lacking any topline, that in itself isn't a major issue and with decent food and correct work will improve. However the question for me would be why is he poor? My gut tells me that looking at the photos his way of going under saddle is bad - is that down to bad schooling or physical pain or a combination of both?

I would be devastated if one of my horses looked and went so badly and there is no way on earth I would waste time viewing that horse

Id say there is no harm going to see him - you will only really know the situation properly once you are here. Just don't let your heart rule your head and you'll be fine

Difficult to say from pictures alone, his coat looks healthy, but id also need to see him in person, watching him move
For me he looks very lean with imo poor muscle covering, no topline and a poor back end, whether this is something good feeding and correct work will improve depends on his actual physical state and ability to metabolise food and work correctly.

You mean seller wants to know your vets name? Or seller already does know your vet? A seller with nothing to hide really wouldn't even ask you about vets or vetting, sounds extremely fishy to me.

Make sure your vet is based well out of the area of this horse and has no possible connection to the seller. You are right-it is odd seller is so obsessed with who your vet is,because if the horse is well and the seller has nothing to hide, the identity of your vet should really be irrelevant to the seller... :-/

IT WOULD BE GREAT TO READ SOME OPINIONS ABOUT THIS CHAT!!!

Opinions are more than welcome to the chat above!!

My opinion is the same as the majority of other posts you've had on this thread. Walk away! The horse is over priced and to be honest I can see not one inch of warmblood in it. It jumps like an ex-racer thoroughbred and it looks like an ex-racer. You seem to be very keen on it regardless of the warnings most people have given you so best of luck, there's little point saying anything else at this stage.
