Afternoon all :-)

Looking for a comfortable long "country boot" to wear casually and pref not to end up riding in!! I love my ariats short boots as they are so comfy and a lot of my friends have the Grassmere's and rave about them. Keep hearing conflicting reviews about Dubarry`s and for the price of these boots I would like a long lasting hard wearing boot

What would you choose between these two or any other suggestions for a good quality casual country boot?

Thanks

I ride in ariat long boots and short boots and chaps also have the telluride as a yard boot but absolutely love my Dubarrys bought the Galways 3 years ago and have just had the Longfords bought for me by my fabulous husband at Burghley. The Longfords do fit me a little better as they are narrower in the leg, foot and ankle. Happy shopping.x

I have a few pairs of Dubarry's. I loved my first pair which is why I went back and bought others. The quality of them is not anywhere near as good nowadays so I switched to Ariat Grasmeres a few years ago and I absolutely love them! They are so much nicer, more comfortable and for me who lives in them 6 months of the year in horrifically cold winters, I find they last much longer.

I have had my Dubarrys for two years. They started leaking in March. Lovely and comfy though they are, I can't wear them even after a light shower without sticking a carrier bag over my foot, and that doesn't work very well. And they smell all damp and feety.

I'll be buying ariat next time. Even if they last as long as the Dubarrys they are cheaper and I won't mind as much.

I love my Grasmeres, they'll be 3 years old this year :) I had a slight issue about 6 months after I got them when the seal between the boot and sole started to come away. I reported it to Ariat, who sent me a Freepost label and returned them, re-sealed, in les than a week. I've had no problems with them since :)

I have a pair of Dubarrys which are 6 years old, I don't ride in them but they have had quite a lot of wear and still look smart and are waterproof. I also have a pair of ariat Grassmere which I bought for hacking out in in cold weather, i've had them a year and they were lovely and toasty in the coldest weather but they do look quite worn. I've recently bought the ariat bromonts for every day schooling and I love them. They look really smart and a friend who has had a pair for 3 years, wearing them for teaching and riding on a daily basis loves them and they still look fab. It just depends what you intend to wear them for but for a comfortable country boot I'd go for the Dubarry every time.

I'd be voting for the Grasmere's - love them to bits & mine are heading into their 3rd winter.
I do clean them, they rarely 'do' mud (the really deep stuff) but are my boot of choice for cold, frozen or snow-type conditions, I do ride in them if its really bitter out - usually staying in them from November till end March or so....

I am biased tho, as also love my Bromonts, Tell-u-rides, Cobalts (& gaiters) - and the Portlands I wear to work :o

Difficult one, I own both, Dubarry's and Grassmere's and have done just about everything in both pairs in all weathers!
I prefer my Garssmeres purely because they have aged better and now look a little more stylish. My Dubarrys have dropped a little and are more faded.
But whichever you get you'll love as they're both nice, if I needed some more I would re-purchase my Ariats over Dubarry. xx

Ah I'd heard that, that the quality had declined :(

What sort of length of time are the Grasmeres lasting, with the sort of wear you're giving them?

Wear mine to country shows, yard jobs, riding, walking, had them 18 months and still going strong, I do polish them every other month or try to at least xx

Thanks everyone :-) I originally wanted the grassmeres so think will go hunting for a pair I think £335 for the Dubarrys maybe slightly out of the price range especially if the quality is questionable!

Yes I have ariat cobalt which I love so much I now have 2 pairs! not so impressed with the close contact chaps I recently purchased though :-(
