It's coming up to my birthday and my mothers agreed to buy me a pair of dubarrys :). However, are they really that good? Is there a make very similar for less the price?

Would love to know as I don't want her spending the money on them if there's an equally good replica.

I've noticed Eventer boots?

Thanks :)

Dub's are worth every penny, my daughter has had a pair for 6 yrs, ok they may look pretty knacked now but they would still clean up and are still waterproof. They may be expensive but IMO the copys are nowhere near the same quality. (We have 4 pairs in our house)

I love them, and personnally wouldn't wear any of the look-alikes, but that is my personal choice.

My "workhorse" Dubarry's are still going strong after nearly 2 years of abuse. Worth every penny, never let me down. I will recommend them all day long.

I have friends with a variety of the look-alikeys and most have had problems.

Dublin river boots were awful and my friend exchanged them 3 times before loosing patience and buying Dubarry's (with which she has had no problems and loves).

They Rydale ones are okay - my mother has some - and they are good value I think. They havent lasted as well as my Dubarry's and my mother does alot less "mileage" than me but still she has had to replace them every year. I also think they look shabby quite quickly.

I know someone who has the Wyre Valley Eventer boots and they actually are pretty nice looking. A little plasticy, but my favourite of the look-alikes. She hasnt had them long though, so I dont know how they stand the test of time.

There are, of course, options. But IMHO Dubarry's are the best for style, performance and longevity. I love mine :D

I love mine. I got a pair from my parents last Christmas. Although I don't muck out my stable in them I do poo pick the field and ride in them and my mum watches my every move in them.

Dubarrys all the way...I have had mine for years and they are still going with no need to repair or lacking in anything from when I originally got them...I can wear them all day and no sore feet. They get worn constantly...mucking out, in/out field, and after at least having the same pair for 5+ years I can only say they are the best boot ever bought. Definitely worth the money.
I also like ariat gear...and ride in ariats which are also soooooo comfortable (can't remember what they are called but they are the ones with the lace up the side which you pull tight).

Yes they are lovely, comfortable from Day 1 and hard wearing. I bought my daughter the ARiat ones that lace up the sides and I would say they are very elegant - she is very pleased with those too.
They are worth the money - they will last you for years if you look after them :)

Thank you. Looks like I'll stick with the dubarrys then!

What are they like size wise?

Also, is there a specific website that do offers, etc, are reliable? I notice their price is the same everywhere.

I think the sizing comes up true. You could try and google to see if anyone has an offer on.

Kirsty they have a cap on their prices, each retailer has to sell them at the same price or they take their supply away. Best bet would be to buy an unwanted present off ebay if you want a cheaper pair.

I loved my Dubarrys but replaced them this year with Hunter Balmoral Westerleys which are actually more comfortable and less common ;-)

Trot.2.com and Pitch and polo have the Dubarry Carlows on sale. Not everyone's cuppa tea, but good price if you wanted them.

Other than that - I have never seen them at a reduced price.

Having tried most of the rest dont waste your money on anything but Dubbarries absolutely love mie 2 years old going strong and fully waterproof.:D

BUT MAKE SURE YOU LOOKAFTER THEM PROPERLY

We were out on Saturday and a couple of the girls had Dubarry's and they loved them. Seemed that even though it was hot, feet didn't get too hot so they were comfy while I sweated in my wellies.

They both had a pair of these Dubarry Galway Boots. There are lots of on-line shops but I can't find them for less than these.

If anyone has any ideas let me know.

Apparently Dubarry only allow one stockist within a certain area. My local tackshop isn't "the" stockist, and so rather than faff around trying to find out who was, I bought Ariat Grasmere's instead (these are the ones with the laces up the sides. I've been really pleased with them - they've been warm and waterproof, and I love that I can cinch up the sides as I have skinny legs.

Plus I got them on sale :)

I've had two pairs and gorgeous and comfy as they are both pairs died within 8 months!!!! (soles went at the sides, well maybe not the soles but the rubber bit)
