Dubarrys finally given up....help please

After many years my girlfiends favourite Dubarrys have finally had it.

Its her birthday in 2 weeks and im going to be a good boyfriend and get her some some, but cant afford Dubarry prices - £150 max really.
What alternatives are there, and can anyone recommend some to me!?

Probably the best bet is to look at Derby House website for style ideas. Equestrian Clearance carry an assortment (good delivery and lovely customer service from them), also Rideaway.

There are a number of copies on the Dubarry style now (Derby House have something very similar on the looks front, but I don't know what the quality is like). Given that winter is coming(!), maybe the Highrider type (I think they're Mountain Horse).

hmmm...i have to say i agree with Victoria...if my boyfriend bought me fake dubarrys i'd be really pleased but secretly quite disappointed that they weren't real ones if i'm honest...

women are fickle creatures! She would be happy that you had made the effort to replace her dubes but she would be over the moon if they were the real thing.............trust us, speaking from experience!
 
As above really - she will love the effort you have made, but either get the real thing or something completely different

Can you tell me more about the cabotswood boots? Are they comfortable, warm etc

She'll tended to live in her dubarrys so want to make sure that they are upto the task.

I just cannot afford to get her the same ones

I would have said what the others said really about not getting fake Dubarrys as they are a kind of status symbol, rightly or wrongly.

However looking at the Cabotswood boots, I love the styling of the Brecon and Malvern, at least in the brown colour not the lighter tan. I think you might get away with them ... I can see people asking where they came from, they have a sort of Mulberry look. I think I might get some myself!

What size boots is your girl friend after, because I have just bought myself some Dubarrys from ebay which are as new only they are too big for me.
They are size 3 1/2 . I was going to put them back on ebay. I paid £172 plus £10 postage. So if you are interested PM me!
 
Ok well if you have to comprimise then at the very least go for Ariat Grasmere boots! you should be able to pick up a pair for between £150-£180 depending on how good you are at searching out a bargain!

Yes! they are warm & comfy, there is a story behind me getting them, I have been sent them to 'try & test' them from a mag, when I 1st got them I thought ugh! they are fake Dubarry's

they are really nice boots.
 
Wrap up a photo of both lots of boots (get a cheap little prezzie like a horse key ring or a thelwell mug for the day) - wrap em up with a cheque and give her the choice. Say I love you and really wanted to get you these but i could not afford them just now but I have found these and did not know what to do....

I would rather wait and get what i wanted than feel a bit fobbed off with a pair of cheap imitations. And yes i know this may come across as me being a snobby, stuck up, greedy person but i am not I just like what i like and nothing else will do.

Good luck - you are doing really well with your training !! you are almost aspiring to become husband material LOL
 
Brianblessed - it's a lovely idea to buy her some Dubarry's and you have earned serious brownie points for even considering it! They are expensive though -is it possible that you would be able to get them for her if they were her Christmas present as well?
