I see on the new Dublin website the DRB have no mention of waterproof Redskin Leather or Fully Waterproof Inner Lining which wasnt and didnt even reach ankle height so at last the truth will out why they couldnt put in a branded full height waterproof membrane is beyond me the boots could have been made so much better instead of just LEAKY C***

...so the moral of that is? Don't buy leather boots if you intend to go wading in puddles on a regular and extended basis? Rather makes sense to me actually. I guess that if you want totally waterproof then you buy wellies, or muckboots.

I take it that yours leaked then? You sound rather happy, although are they actually admitting anything or just not advertising the boots as waterproof?

Mine haven't leaked, but then, as I'm not dumb enough to wear them when there is a foot of mud and rivers of water to wade through, they haven't really been tested.

I do tend to agree with Enfys - I love my boots, they are comfy, warm and haven't ripped or caused any other problem in the 6 months I have had them but I haven't used them like i would a welly boot I.e. Wading through mud, rivers etc as I never bought them for that purpose (as thtas what wells are for) nor thought that they would have been suitable for it being made of leather with various seams etc. I did use them during all the snow but dried them out and sprayed them with waterproof spray regularly and they never leaked.

I see your point if they have been marketed as waterproof;http://www.yourhorse.co.uk/Gear-rev...rch-results/Boots/Wellies/Dublin-River-boots/
Its annoying, I bought some Woof Wear Long yard boots and they leaked when walking on long wet grass. They spent half the time drying out rather than on my feet.
Can recommend the Ariat Grassmere boots though, leather and never leaked. even when I stuck my foot under the hose to rinse the mud off.

Mine are pretty waterproof and I've had them over a year now and wear on a pretty much daily basis.

I thought there was only some batches that were bad?

My River Boots fell apart after about six months and I got drenched to my socks just walking through wet grass. My Ariats seem to be holding up well, though! I will never buy Dublin again.

I just love Ariat for all footwear. I gave mine a horrendous 3years and only now they have broken.

Still wear them though, soo comfy :D

However got to agree, leather is likely to leak - being as there's holes in it for stitches....

My Ariat Grasmere's had 5 or 6 years of daily abuse, mucking out, wading through mud, riding, walking the dogs etc. They had a very sad farewell in the bin this weekend. Worth every penny.

I've got dublin river boots - brand new bargain off ebay £80 !!! but i wore them in the snow and the grip was pants , nearly broke my neck a few times , so only wear them as casual and the good old muck boots for wellies..

Quite agree! I thnk thats the thing about the Ariats, they are just so versatile you end up wearing them to do everything! I am very sad to lose mine! And I'll only consider Ariats as a replacement.
I have cheapo wellies for everything else :D

I wouldn't be upset - the dubarrys are not entirely waterpoof either

All these leather boots rely on your coating regularly with something to make them waterproof

So go grab some renapur or similar, coat your boots and you'll no longer have soggy feet in damp grass

Boots regularly treated with Nic Wax and silicone. My Dubbarries have spent all day in a welsh peat bog DRY FEET but I also look after them properly as I did with the Dublin boots.
