I’m thinking of going to Dublin horse show this year and despite repeated attempts to ask the show office I have had no luck even speaking to anyone so I’m hoping someone here can help.

I know you can by admission only tickets and admission with reserved seating tickets. If I purchase the admission only tickets can you still watch the main ring? I am hoping there may be a first come first served grandstand area.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, there is a small section of free seating but for the big events it fills up quick.

You can usually buy the cheaper stand tickets on the day should you decide. And once the big events are over anyone can sit in the stand ie you need a ticket for puissance but can watch the hunt chase without

Its an amazing show, I would book seated tickets as well as general admission esp if you wanted to watch the SJ in the main ring. The general admission is standing only and round the back.
The outside SJ rings are free for all and available to everyone.
We stay in the Mespil hotel which is a walk to the showground but easy to do in around 10-15 mins or you can jump on a bus.

Depends what you want to watch, the feature classes you need a ticket really.
The old free stand was demolished, I couldnt swear to there being much/any free seating in the new one, it's still being built. You might be able to find some standing room free but the view is limited.
(And the hunt chase was scrapped years ago)

Shame they scrapped the hunt chase, was our fave thing to do.
Honestly, we went last year after not being there since 2003(When I was competing in the Mounted games there) and I was very disappointed. Everything is sooooo overpriced.
Saying that, I am taking my mare up this year to show so I need to bite my tongue :P

It is great fun - and make sure you stay on to watch the hunt race at the end, it’s insane!

We used to stay at Trinity College. They let out the student rooms in summer and it’s in a great location in the centre of Dublin and cheap. Books up fast though.

Yeah, probably justified, mind. But they have gone a bit mad with scrapping things now 😬
Good luck with your mare! For all we complain it's still very special to have a horse there I think

Agreed, I have no expectations to place but still nice to have a horse to be able to take!
