Have seen a horse which on paper fits the bill but am a bit wary of buying from a dealer so any experiences of Duckhurst or opinions would be gratefully recieved!
Yes , I got my lad from Duckhurst (Dun in my pics) . I have had him 5 years. Found facilities were all a bit basic (indoor school and a jump) but def no hard sell and everything they told me was true . I would use again as I always back off if someone tries to sell me anything , I was just shown where things were then left to make up my own mind which suits me. Delivered him into the bargain as well , unexpected but very helpful.
All I can say is I've bought lots of horses from Dave and Sue over the years through the course of my business; I have always found them honest and bought some really cracking horses and ponies.
However, what you have to bear in mind when buying from a dealer is that people are not honest when selling a horse to them (or they have come through sales) and they usually don't have the animal for a long time so they don't KNOW alot about it. I would just make sure you try the animal properly ie. hack it on it's own, go canter it around an open field etc.
My best horse came from Duckhurst! She did BD/BSJA AND BE! Won money the first time we did BSJA and won her first BE Pre Novice back in the day before intro! She never faulted X/C EVER! She was an absolute STEAL and turned heads wherever she went as she was a stunning looking mare but she also did the business....... I had her for 12 years before I lost her and would have her back in a heartbeat........ She's been gone 5 years now and I still haven't been able to eclipse what she did......... I have a trophy cabinet full of her wins at dressage..........
Duckhust may not be impressive BUT never underestimate finding gold in mud..........
It's worth a look as you may come up trumps as I did! People could never belive I had this stunning horse from them but I did...........
