Duckling

If you want the best for him then he should really go to a rescue and be with other ducklings and be given the chance to lead a normal life.

Subscribing to this super-cute thread!!! Need to keep up with updates! I love ducks!

We raised a duckling successfully, it was besotted with my daughter and used to sleep on her bed and follow her everywhere - literally!

Sadly she went out one day and I went to put the duck to bed as we were trying to get him used to going in the shed but he took fright and flew off and was never seen again. :( My daughter was devastated. I only hope it was able to survive in the wild as if it was it was probably the best thing for him really.

Gorgeous! I have reared lone ducklings before, although domestic rather than wild... he looks like he's a mallard. As others have said he will be imprinted now so if you're going to keep him, you could get another duckling to keep him company while he's still young enough to accept it. My last one was such a lovely pet, he would follow me anywhere, we used to go on walks down to the river, he'd help me digging in the garden, play with the dog, they are great fun.

The duckling is too clever we have decided. He now runs out peeping loudly everytime anyone stands near his pen  This involves everyone going awwwww and picking him up for cuddles :D He loves my long hair or snuggling under a chin or even in your boobs!!! When hes had enough he peeps again to say so and gets put back for food and water. I have tried everything to get him a friend but have had no luck :( So if anyone has an orphan duckling in Northamptonshire I will be happy to give it a home :) His name is Richard btw after my friend who lent me the electric hen/food etc...
To answer JosieB - I have done my best for him - He would have been run over or eaten if I hadn't took him in. When hes bigger he can go out with my own 2 ducks and all my chickens who are all rescued too :D They have a lovely spoilt happy life out there and are fully in charge of the cats and dogs x
Will try get more pics today to show just how small he is we reckon hes less then a week old so hes doing incredibly well x Thank you xxx
