Entered Aston le Walls BD as a late entry and noticed I'd only have to learn one test as I had done the other test at Hunters the week before.
Unfortunately having checked their website late last week I noticed that actually both tests had been changed and I had to learn two new ones which I'd never ridden before

For some reason since switching to dressage my brain has turned to mush and I have a serious immobility to learn tests like I use to.

Friday night was my works Christmas Party and even tho pretty legless I even tried to learn my test at 12:15am!

So we arrived at Aston freezing as the fan/heater still doesn’t work in the lorry. We misted up a fair bit so we had to wind down windows to demist so I could see.

It was packed (so much for small entries) and we pitched up in the middle of the yard.

Snoopals was on his third show where he had to be tacked up and stand on his lorry, which isn’t a strong point for an opinionated little whatsit.
All was fine until they started shooting pheasants.... Snoopals turned into wild neddie and nothing would settle him so I gave up after getting slammed against the lorry partition for the 4th time.
He shot out the lorry like a bullet but actually chilled out and walked in hand with Kt whilst I went and got changed.

Warming up he was cute and quiet but then the shooting started and he grew more tense. He's never competed here before and I’ve never thought of the place as a spooky venue, however as we entered the arena his tension got worse and I wasn’t sure Id actually get around the arena let alone do a 5.5min test.
But true to form a bit of medium trot and he started to relax.
Although there were minor blimps mainly due to tension he relaxed through the second half and produced a nice test but not as nice as 2 wks before at Hunters.

The results had started to go up and the two open riders before me were on 65% and 68% so I was pretty much convinced we'd not be up there.
Blow me down we only went and won it on 69%!

Second test my friend Penny arrived so I sighed a huge sigh of relief as she could read the test as, quite frankly I hadn’t learnt it.
Again he was tight and tense throughout the first and we had a perfect flying change

when NOT required (that will learn me for teaching him).
Still a fair test but again not at the usual stand he could produce.

Well I was delighted to see we'd won again with 67% this time, which meant we were half way there for the qualification.

Unfortunately our joy was short lived as I had a phone call on the way home to say actually they'd added a competitors results up incorrectly and in fact they had beaten me by 1 mark

Equally I’m so pleased we'd going well considering we've had no training for 6 months and it was only our 2nd show since the long forced lay off.

Now off to starve myself for the next 5 months after seeing shocking footage of myself on video.

but might just squeeze another 1% out of us.

Thanks S, how you feeling?

Baydale, Classic Dressage horses were there yesterday, they had posh ride on rugs - we didnt even have a boot/bandage on

I didnt want them to get dirty in the Taylors black arena lol

Wowee, great result - if you're finding 2 wins in a day dull I'm thinking you may need, as my OH puts it, "a Good Slap!"

Very well done to Snoops, I do see the golf connection, perhaps he thinks Tiger Woods has left a vacancy?

Are you sure Snoops wasn't trying to get off the lorry in a hurry to distance himself from his outfit.

Very well done, especially under fire! And now you're getting your changes in the ring you'll have to move up.
