Elf On A Shelf
...
We made a last minute decision to head down to Morris for a show today seeing as I got the day off of work. We took Dum Dum and Lunar Fire. And of course we got there way too early and there wasn't really any grass to eat. But both ponies stood in the trailer quite happy with their haynets.
Dum Dum was up first in his 2&3yo class. There were 4 in total and despite eating my arms alive, having a 5th leg and being a very bored fidget he won his class. This brought him into the Junior Championship which he duly won.
Lunar Fire was up next and she is normally the easiest, sweetest pony to deal with but boredom was etching at her too so trotting meant throwing her head around or trying to itch on me. Then of course we have to stop mid walk towards the judge for a full body shake. Honestly ponies make fools of us at the best of times! But she picked up her red rosette for being the only awesome pony in the ring. This put her in the Senior Championship against 2 big, big winning stallions. She wasn't placed but to be honest I was not expecting to be. She still looks a bit rough with her coat half in and half out.
Dum Dum then got to play with the big boys in the Overall Standard Championship where he stood Reserve to the lovely bay. At only 3yo and not being the biggest shetland on the planet he stood himself up well and had stopped eating me by then, the 5th leg was still in view though but to be Reserve he beat one of the north's biggest winning stallions so I am more than quite happy about that! He also got his first piece of silverware too today!
A long but very worthwhile day!
