Yes they have a sweat sensor... you can change the sensitivity depending on the time of year. I have Hananh's on full at the moment but if it goes off again tonight without a foalie appearing i might consider dropping the sensitivity a little.
 
Yes it comes with a leather attachment which goes around their neck, attached to a surcingle and then through their front legs like a martingayle... the sensor is actually on the neck and the battery at the front of the horse...

They apparently work if the mare sweats, however if they don't, like my mare, they don't work and you find a foal shaped package on the floor. I spent alot of money hiring one and Mabs held onto him for an extra 23 days when she finally gave birth she didn't even break a sweat so no alarm!!
