Seems like mission impossible to find a dun or roan filly, fully papered and registered, light to middleweight, sound etc, to make around 15.2 hh with a touch of quality although not for showing.Sensibly priced.
Am I looking on the wrong place, (all the usual websites and HH)
Can anyone suggest somewhere else to look ??
Thank you for listening.

There are a few on Preloved. Some of the 'Duns' are really Buckskins, but if you are happy with Buckskin then it's not a problem.

This one is a real Dun (note the leg bars) if having the Dun gene is important to you (does have a hernia though).

A nice Buckskin http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/s...ra-x-thoroughbred-dunbuckskin-filly-foal.html

A nice Sooty Buckskin (to make 16hh) http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/show/108976653/beautiful-pure-buckskin-warmblood-filly.html

Bay roan, but a chunkier type http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/show/108992112/lovely-filly.html

Thanks everyone so far, seen the ones on Preloved. Your third suggestion seems the most promising to my needs.
The dun gene isnt important as I wont be breeding.
Dont know much about buckskins, but dont want blue eyes, or a pale colour as already have greys.
Breedwise, thinking Sports type ,clean legged, temperament and soundness are vital, as are papers 3 generation.
Really trying for something to make a classy all rounder, unbroken or just sat on or a two or three years old,
Havent got time to wait for a foal. Maybe a Connemara full height?
Thank you for the FB suggestion, really helpful. I will search now.

If you aren't breeding then I can't see why 3 generations of breeding is important. Sounds like a Connie or Connie x is your best bet.

The thing that winds me up is, in some adverts, there is no clue as to whether or not something is registered or papered. I am afraid a cross may not be suitable for registration purposes.
I have seen the HM one on the web, thanks for posting and thanks for the colour chart, which is kind of you.
I have now seen the FB page of DHAPS, but fail to see a sales list?
The other dun site seems to be a closed FB group.
oh well, back to the drawing board .

Glenruby, I live abroad and to compete affiliated, the three generation is important , its just the way it is!
Lurcherlu, sorry, my grey is has Spanish blood and I was hoping for a different breed, thanks for trying.
Maybe the Connie is best .

Whirlwind, I have been on your site, like what you are doing, but want something 2 or 3 yr old
Yes always a mare with me I am afraid, Dizzy Socks!

Chamfron Stud have bred some beautiful roans - not sure if they have any older ones for sale though - they have a good website

Why is the colour important? You really need to learnt he difference between dun and buckskin, incase you actually mean buckskin as that will help your search. Not many Duns in the uk, unless you're after an exmoors or highland? Lol

I should imagine the colour is important as if you are buying exactly what you want...then you want to buy exactly that! So if you want a dun or buckskin why look at bays? And the two colours having different names (and yes I know different genes) doesn't matter if you don't want to breed, I imagine OP wants a dark mustardy horse with black points.

Mostly only bays and chestnuts where I am, albeit a lot of them with full breeding papers, hence the competition rules!.
Yes I am happy to buy in the uk, as I would feel more confident doing so, even allowing for transport costs.
Dark mustardy with black points sounds just the job, I am happy to have opened a debate at least!

I do actually understand your desire for something that's a nice colour, when I bought Pip, 'pretty' was one of the top requirements.

We've had a few unusual colours over the years, an appaloosa (two if you count one that was on loan) two roans (both strawberry roans with a lot of white) a mouse dun and a buckskin.

I think your best chance for a registered roan/buckskin would be a Connemara or a Welsh, perhaps going through a stud would be your best bet. What's your budget like, and is broken in a definite no?

I'll make you jealous of our young'un!! He's unregistered though.

Lovely stock at the above stud, sadly too small for me.
I am in awe of your horse Pigeon!, I think your suggestion of a Connie is a good one and I am going to look (on the web), for Ireland.
Welsh, probably a D for the height, never really considered them, would fit the criteria re papers and strong outdoorsy type which would do any job, and probably more affordable then Connemara.
Now to find appropriate Studs!!
Thanks everyone, appreciate the ideas.

Pigeon I love your dun what breed is he/she? :)
Was there not two Imperial horses though ?
I too am looking for a nice dun so OP if you find any gd studs let me know :)
