My mare that was getting quite overdue, foaled this morning at 2am in the middle of a power cut (her timing has always been immaculate - not!)
Anyway its a Dun Colt!! Piccy for you of mummy and baby out this afternoon!

And this is the filly by the same stallion I had late on Friday night that we had problems with bonding to mum but they are getting on just great now!

But I still won't be getting much sleep because I got 2 more overdue and 3 more coming due....but its worth it when they are on the ground

Absolutely LOVE the dun colt. What breed is he? Whos the sire?

Can i ask how you overcame the difficult bonding with the other foal?

You must be so so tired.

Can't imagine how it must be with all those mares. I've only got 2 (thank god), don't know how you cope.

Hi
Sire Is CVS Hot Business 4yo Dressage (hopefully) stallion, breeding is Concorde, Its the Business lines so bred for jumping but I think he has a real flare for the flatwork so we are heading in that direction with him. Mum is TBxWelsh, Intermediate Eventer placed 2*, also got BSJA and BD winning and is Graded Head Studbook SHB(GB).

With the bonding issue, she didn't know whether she liked the foal or not, one minute she was licking and doting it and next she was trying to kick it, we got the vet in at 3am (he loves me!) and he sedated her, we then milked the mare and tubed the foal with that and added some frozen that we have in the freezer to make sure the foal had what it needed and then we got the foal suckling whilst the mare was sedated, she was kept mildly sedated Saturday morning and under constant supervision but it was onwards and upwards from there really, I think it was more of a case that she is quite a stressy mare and this is her first baby and she didn't like it moving from right infront of her (thats how it appeared), I think we got off lightly because the sedation seemed to do the trick and take the edge off the mare and by Saturday lunchtime she was only showing occasssional agression to her and by the evening wasn't showing any agression, we let her go out with baby on Sunday and felt that we could leave her unsupervised by Sunday evening. Like I said I think we got off lightly with the situation.

We are hoping he'll make 16 hands, mum is only 15.2 but dad hasn't finished growing yet so we aren't sure what his finished height will be but on the pedigree baby shoud end up about 16h (but you never know coz I got a 17.2 from 2 16.1s and 14.2 from 15hx16.2! lol)

dp Thanks

My god your mare looks just like one I have who is also dun and a welshx.
I would love to see her breeding as she seems so similar.
Hope you don't mind me asking.
