DUST FREE bedding for VERY WET/MESSY mare?!

Oops - just checked. Not a tenner but £4.49 per 10kg bag. That wouldn't break the bank for a trial - and you can order online. Link here - scroll down the page:

Although they are being marketed as fuel, afaik there is no difference in this type of product, and that used for equine bedding (except the vat rate you have to pay).

Bumping for replies.....

ok so my next problem...... :( trying to get some delivered but they seem to only do them by the pallet load. I really only want around 10 x 15 Kg bags to try for just now. I was set on ordering the blue ribbon ones until I saw you need to order them in bulk.....:(

I had this issue too. Ring all your local feed merchants/tack shops even if they're not too close. I drove out of my area so I could stock up on ten bags, having paid well over the odds for my first ten bags at ne of my local equine shops. Google feed merchants in your area (I literally put 'feed merchant Hertfordshire' then Chesham to find a place that does them for under £4 a bag.)

Where are you and I can google for you (general area, not your actual address!!)

e feed sell by the bag but have quite a high delivery cost (about £20)

ask your feed merchant if they can stock them. It's worth the hassle changing over to pellets. I only ever put a bag in a month, semi deep litter. Amazing stuff.

MM do you just mix the green gloop with water and pour on? how much do u use and how often do u do this.........think i'll order some :D

Yes, I just put a 'gloop' in the watering can and use it when as and when. Usually when I clean out wet (once a week). And to damp the bed down in the summer

Another vote for comfy bed. My mare sounds exactly like yours and it's taken me 10 years to find a bed that suits but I got there last year ! I have also found mixing a bag of megazorb

Just to say, comfybed is £6.50 (a bag, delivered to me from local supplier in essex) for a 25kg bag.

I tried the woodpellets and they were fab but worked out very expensive! the comfybed isn't as absorbant IMO but doesn't smell and doesn't move. My gelding is revolting but on the comfybed, takes 5 mins to skip out and I just take out wet once every 5 days and replace with a new bag. I lay 6 to start with.

thanks so much to everyone for taking the time to reply :D

I only realised lastnight that my local tack shop actually sells 'stovies' so today i bought 4 bags. they are only £% for 15 kilo bags which is realy good. I was really worried when i saw how small the bags- after wetting they took ages to swell up! put plenty of water down and hey presto! :D while i was there tonight she wee'd in the middle of the stable and i was pleasantly surprised to find that the wee didnt escape out the bottom of the bedding :)............only time will tell tho.....;)

eta: going to try the green gloop aswell but i will wait to see how the 'stovies' go first- thanks for the tip ;)

Have you considered shredded egg box bedding. I've been using it for a couple of months and wouldn't go back now.

Its the most absorbent bedding I've used.
