I love Dutch horses but like all horses " types" they vary enormously .
The ones I like are good moving sharp and very trainable ( meaning they pick the bad very easily as well as the good ) often they have loads of natural energy and that means they are often very sharp indeed but I stress I chose the ones i have had for this because that's what I like.

My friends second top dressage mare is dutch, and is out of this world fantastic. She's just had a 6 figure sum offer for her, and when she delcined it was tripled if she agreed to sell after the mares first Grand Prix. Again, she declined. ;)

The mare was a total firecracker when she first came, she swapped her for another of her horses. She proved very hard to ride for anyone prior to my friend having her, very hot and sensitive, and even for the first 2 years of my friend having her she was prone to just spitting the toys out the pram at A and not even making it down the centre line.

The past year she has come into her own, won the Scottish Champs, and is now a piaffe and passage machine, with her tempis looking fantastic and 'all together' She LOVES her work.

She's only 8 too, with a temperment to die for. A horse you could spend all day playing with, grooming and just fussing over who will bask in the attention and groom you back, who will lead out in hand to graze ever so quietly, who just completely transforms under saddle.

A genuinely nice 'person' with so much talent.

I'll ask my friend if I can post some of the pictures I took at the champs and some from home.

infact - google Zariende. Plenty pictures from Photographers, some aren't the most recent though.

I have a "dutch" warmblood and owned him since 3 months old. He was bred here though so not KWPN. He is very sharp but also very trainable, as someone else said, this does mean he picks up the bad as quick as the good! Though he is also fairly easy to get back out of bad behaviours too. He is a slow grower and only lightly backed this autumn at 3 3/4 and now will not be able to do a lot ridden wise until the spring so I cant comment in that way but on the ground he is fantastic, agile, very swinging stride, an absolute show off and can get very excited sometimes but is an absolute angel normally. If youre thinking of getting one and think you can handle them then do but theyre not for the faint hearted if you get one from a baby!! lol they are amazing horses to work with though and although its been tough sometimes I would not change my boy for the world.

I have a Dutch warmblood x ISH. He is the sharpest horse I have ever owned, incredibly quick to learn new things but has much to much self preservation!! Here is my boy:

I love Dutch Warmbloods (KWPN is their national stud book) and they are fabulous trainable horses (in general) but as said the temper and nature can vary massively dependant on the individual horse/breeding etc

I have owned my KWPN horse for 16 yrs and he is the best purchase i have ever made
