DVD made to help children read dogs' aggressive body language

Hmmm, nice idea, but surely the parents have a responsibility to teach this to their children anyway?

And, of course, to not leave them in situations where the dog can turn on the child!

I think it's a great idea and something I may well buy. Obviously I have a responsibility to teach my child how to behave around dogs but the problem is that one of my dogs has to act aggressively in front of my child in order for him to see it and me to explain the behaviour. Obviously this is not a situation I would want to engineer and is also likely to make me too anxious to explain clearly and calmly what is happening until afterwards. The best I can do at the moment is to encourage good behaviour on both sides and explain that growling means the dog is cross and wagging means he is happy and so on. A dvd that would allow my child to actually see a dog growling, snarling, snapping etc and show him the results of different actions on his part would have far more impact on him that my explanations at this age (two and a half).

I think it goes without saying that I would never leave any young child unsupervised around any dog no matter how trustworthy they all were.

I think thats a really good idea to be shown in schools. It would be very important to me that children learn this, and yet my pups would NEVER behave badly and I wouldnt want to encourage her to just so I could go "hey, this is when you should NOT lean in" etc etc.

I also wouldnt want my child to be anywhere near a dog behaving that way, whereas on the movie they can safely have a really good look at whats going on without risking their nose!
