We bought a VW T4 van for £4000, still a bargain, we did go to see it first.

It's the most trusted auction site so basically I wouldn't use any other.

I've been registered with e-bay for a couple of years but never really bought or sold much. However, did sell my saddle on there this week so might try selling a few other horsey things I no longer need

E-bay seems the most established auction site so I won't bother with any others

we bought a vw kombi - didnt got to see it - bought ir from ireland and had to drive it back(on the back of a tow truck!) (5 months pregnant).. decided do much better selling on it

I sold some rugs on ebay. They were actually brand new stable rugs that I bought for my youngsters, (then decided to leave them out all year) so were still tagged and bagged.
The buyers got a bargain - brand new but cheaper, and I got enough money back to buy them new turnouts.

I wouldn't be without ebay! I've bought ALL my horsey things off there, except my saddle.

You do have to be careful who you buy from but the horsey stuff is so much cheaper on there than in the sops.

Have bought and sold all sorts, bought my kieffer saddle off there and sold my old wintec on there, bought loads of snowboarding stuff as well, its much cheaper than buying in the shop as long as you dont get carried away!!!

I'm thinking of selling my horsebox but didn't think about putting it on e-bay - might do now

I have bought loads off ebay. Always items have been exactly as described. Biggest purchase ... saddle. It was in perfect condition and my saddler told me I had got the bargain of the century!

I am going to go against the popular view here and say that I am not an eBay aficionado. I think it could be a thieves charter if sellers weren't decent, upstanding citizens. I also know a few people who haven't received their goods after paying for them and PayPal and eBay have been less than helpful. No-one seems to be accountable and I don't like that. I prefer to buy from a bona fide e-tailer.

I think it is funny that people think they have "won" something when they buy from eBay. If you go to an electrial store and hand over a wedge of your hard-earned you don't tell everyone that you "won" a flat screen television do you? I consider "winning" to be spending a pound on a lottery ticket and getting half a million back. I have seen quite a few instances where people have "won" things on eBay that I sell much cheaper on my website and my postage is way cheaper too

Most people are honest, though.
As a seller, I certainly took great care to photograph, and describe my items accurately, and asked a realistic price. I also packed them neatly and carefully, so they would be pleasant to open (that's part of the pleasure in buying, isn't it?).
I'll let you all know when I'm selling the next lot (my girls are outgrowing them again

I hardly shop anywhere else these days! Don't have the time and I can find most things on E-bay at better prices, quicker delivery etc.

On Wednesday AM I ordered a new laptop - it arrived Thursday afternoon! I've had two washing machines off E-bay (one for the yard), vacuum cleaner, more saddles than I care to remember, all my vet supplies, underwear, all sorts of clothes, power washer, steam cleaner, electric fencing - you name it! Only ever had one transaction go wrong - and it was only about £12 - but I've had more than enough fantastic bargains to make up for it 100 times!

I buy most things on ebay because I would rather be with my horses than trudge around the shops.
I've sold a few things on ebay and like Shil I take great care to be honest in my descriptions, ask a fair price and pack them up well so people will be pleased with what they've bought. If people are dishonest and sell rubbish they get negative feedback. i've bought and sold hundreds of items and I've only had a few minor hitches which have all been resolved.
So all in all I'm a massive fan and don't know how I managed before.

I've brought loads from ebay, mostly horse stuff but some clothes aswell.
I've just sold 3 saddles and started them quite low for what they were.
I'm in desperate need of a new Dressage saddle and am looking at the moment but don't know if I've got the guts to buy off there for that.

Bought and sold anything and everything, horsey stuff, cars bought and sold, vans, wheels etc etc, fire places, tack, rugs, jewellery, bin liners, books, colelctibles, antiques, shoes, clothes, lathe, erm. LOTS and LOTS!!!!!! I love it, buy anything and everything!!!

Wonder if anyone would snap up my OH - he's house trained, not bad looking (in my opinion) shares the housework, he's quite generous, 6' ish, body work is good for the year and he makes me laugh
smile.gif
Having said that, I have a horse to keep so I suppose everything has got it's price

Any offers ? LOL

I have bought and sold on ebay. Probably the most expensive item we bought was a car and had to travel all the way to Newcastle-upon-Tyne to go and fetch it lol. Have also bought another car and sold 3, including the two that we bought from the site. We didn't get ripped off and neither did the people who bought the cars from us too. Most unique sale was a car I sold for a relative. An old Fiat, a collector's car. The buyer lived in Portsmouth so we borrowed a trailer and towed the car all the way there from Stoke-on-Trent. The buyer was well chuffed and so thrilled we had gone to so much effort to get it to him.
Have also bought electrical items including an old dishwasher and washing machine. Pc items, games etc.
Pet items, including stuff for my ferrets, cats, rabbits. fish and dogs.
Clothes bought and sold.
I'm a collector of items that interest me such as music, films and horse racing. Bond and The Pet Shop boys have featured amongst them and so have bought things such as concert tickets, cd's, photos, promotional items such as a souvenir programme for the Royal Premiere of Casino Royale.
The main items I do buy and sell though are equestrian ones. I am a sucker for rugs and bridles lol. Having bought so many items before I even got the horses I ended up with a lot of stuff that either didn't fit ( big lad in extra full and hardly had anything of that size lol) or else I found I didn't need or had duplicates of. Most of my unwanted items have been sold on ebay but some have been privately too such as on yards I have been on. This may sound horrid I know but I am not a lover of tack shops. The two local to me that I have been in have not impressed me at all. One attitude was rather quite snotty and the other place was not that much better either. I have also seen friends being sold an item that they really didn't need or didn't exactly fit. As such I have little respect for shops and would rather buy either secondhand from ebay or buy new items from sellers who have shops who have come to trust. As as result of my own experience in the real world and online on ebay I will always promote the latter to people I have met and got to know at the yards I have been on.
Were it not for ebay I would be a lot poorer by now. I have saved hundreds ( maybe more) over the last few years.
I would wholly recommend the site. I do my homework though as a buyer or seller. I check the average selling price of a seondhand item and source out prices for new. I won't go above the going rate for an item and have seen items selling above their market value which makes me laugh. When selling I will price my items fairly and in line with or just below the average price.
I like most people have had the odd bad experience either as a buyer or a seller. As a seller I am fair but firm and give a very detailed description of my items. I don't rip off on postage as some people do. As a buyer I am genuine too but I have been ripped off a few times by some people. Luckily they have been odd occasions though so it has not put me off buying from the site.
The only moan I do have though is the paypal charges for selling ( they should be less) and also I don't agree with protecting bidder's identities. I would often look other people up when bidding to see what they had bought ( ie how much and if I was likely to be outbid and they had more spare cash than me) and also to see if they were local to the seller. If they were unlikely to have to pay postal charges and be able to pick up and the postage was high due to weight then that person may have a tenner or more in hand of you already and I would take that into consideration when bidding. Of course now I can't do that and it does make me a little mad.

I've bought 3 cars and a van, Smeg fridge, sewing machine, 5 saddles X amount of bridles, Ifor Williams trailer, a sink and a toilet
shocked.gif
.jodhpurs. etc.
I've sold 2 cars, 3 saddles X amount of bridles etc.
Generally I've had good experiences on ebay. If things have gone wrong they've usually been dealt with.
My 1 moan is sellers can no longer leave negative feed back for buyers. I think that's unfair, the main problems I've had has been with buyers
mad.gif

I buy a fair amount of horsey things from ebay; mainly tack and rugs. My most expensive purchase was an equissage machine and we also bought a horsebox through ebay. The listing for it finished and noone had bid so my dad phoned the man, went to see it and then got it for half the ebay start price
grin.gif

I sell a few things but nothing very expensive. Am selling some equilibrium tri-zone brushing boots at the moment if anyone's interested!

I buy almost all my horsey things on ebay...

I actually like used items more than new - they fit better, normally.

And I simply can't afford local tack shops because the high end products are things I don't like - e.g stubben bridles with those stupid metal things at the side of the browband rather than sabre or jeffries - and the low end items don't last & don't fit.

Gosh where do I start!
Best buy was a brand new ride on lawnmower at over £1000 but half the price of the same at the local dealers.
I buy all our bridles from Stylways?, really good tough bridles and superfast delivery.
I've bought three saddles and sold two.
Almost bought a Freelander but was outbid by 1p at 4 am..I'd given up by then and refused to get out of bed to bid.
Sold various household items like china.
Bought a blue green sapphire that I had added to a diamond ring/bought a beautiful big blue topaz which the local jeweller made into a pendant for CCJ's 18th.
Sold various rings that I'd got fed up with.
The place is great if you understand the risks you are taking, a white gold chain I ordered from an American buyer should have been one of two. Only one arrived and I lost my money.
I think as a place to assess what something is worth it can't be bettered, I priced my current car by watching them on ebay for 8 weeks.
If the sellers are near enough I prefer to pay cash and meet them or collect, at least that way if the item isn't as described you walk away.

I got my beloved mini cooper from ebay for the bargain price of £5200 and only 40,000 miles. In a dealers that would have been worth 8k at least! I also sell lots of MAC make-up and hair products, aswell as tack I no longer need etc
