My OH has our two insured with E&L (don't ask me why). At New Year the ground was rock hard and on New Years day we noticed that our mare was stiff behind. She is 17 and occasionally gets stiffness in her hocks.

Long story short, she is now back to her old self and we have just had the bill from the vets; not huge, but there is still a possible claim of £50, so my OH thought 'why not'.

There are many questions an stipulations on the claim form, two of which made us laugh in disbelief. One asks for a copy of the vetting form, from when the horse was bought. In our case, that was ten years ago and as she was a project horse with some BIG issues, no vetting took place. They also wish to see copies of the worming card, to which my OH said ' they must think I'm made of money, I can't afford to have the vet worm the horses'.

I reckon that's all E&L will need to dismiss the claim.

Call them up and explain the situation. I think the best way to deal with them is to call up, and keep calling and keeping a note of everything. they eventually paid out for our bill which was around 1k for my horse, but had a vetting.

grrrr they're so annoying, glad i changed. best of luck.

Hmmm, interesting.

We had a claim a few years ago, which took an absolute age to settle. We kept a note of every fax, e-mail and phone call and even got into the habit of asking for the persons name whenever we called, as they had a nasty habit of agreeing to something over the phone, usually from a mobile in the field with the vet standing by, and then denying ever receiving our call.

I don't think we have the slightest chance of ever seeing the 50 quid, but we might as well try to get it back.

Seems they let every 1000th claim through

The requests they have made are ridiculous, a worming card??
