E & L Insurance moan!

Took our rider insurance with E & L two years ago, have had nothing to do with them since, yet a £54 payment has come out of my account 2 days ago for contents insurance?!!! sending me overdrawn and will now incur overdraft charges. Also mad with my bank for allowing a payment to be taken from my expired debit card!

All sorted now but just a warning to anyone who has dealt with them, keep an eye on your bank statements

I know my rider insurance with this company automatically takes the premium every feb because this is when I set it up. I sent away a direct debit form, so it comes from my account, not the debit card itself.
Banks dont allow debit payments without the 3digit security code, so this must have come out as a standing order/DD payment. Its rubbish for you that it sends you overdrawn. But if its a product you dont want then the direct debit assurance will mean your bank cant charge you when E&L refund you.

I have been with E&L since 2006.No real problems apart from recently when I claimed for my stolen horse,oh they will pay out but there was some confusion between the adjusters and insurance company. Turned out that someone didn't mention the fact that the horse was unbroken when I got him,plus the fact he was then proffessionally broken in and schooled.they only wanted to give me the amount I paid for him (grrrr) well anyway the man at E&L was great and he sorted it for me the same day I appealed.Getting the proper amount now. Wish I had my horse back.Got another one now but its not him.
I know it can happen with any company that they take direct debit and you get charged.
