E & L insurance.... payouts

i didnt choose to,.... basically horse was on loan, loaner used e and l, horse came back at short notice with a story of going down a river bank (only told when i noticed swelling and blood on a hind), few days later all 4 legs came up, horse could barely walk, woman had agreed to keep insurance going for 2 months as she returned without 30 days notice..

so cue mini legal battle to keep injured horse insured, no way i could re insure due to exclusions,

woman was trying to get me to tell her i didnt hold her responisble, she was going to cancel the insurance full stop...

basically at least the mare is covered, it shouldnt go to lou but if it does and takes a year to get the money so be it.. if she recovers well and bill is say only 600 (currently250) then i will just pay it and not bother with the insurance claim.. in the mean time just incase the claim has started.

We did this also - got about £3.5k back after a year of pushing and in the end involving the insurance ombudsman. Be prepared to get stuck in. When my vet at the time asked who we were insured with, he groaned. I asked him why, he wouldn't say, so I asked him to recommend and insurance company and he said "anyone but E&L". I think he was quite surprised that we got so much money back from them (but back in 1996 that was a lot of money - it still is - and my poor mother was nearly bankrupted for it!).
