Hi guys, just wondering if anyone id insured with E&L insurance, they have given me a good quote of £9 a month for my 15 year old boy, I dont compete him, hes just a hack now and school horse and isnt worth alot as he has plenty of "issues", but dont want to be paying out for somethig that if I did ever need it they where tricky to pay out? any advise woul dbe greatly appriciated. :)

Don't touch them with a barge pole. They very rarely pay out, the fine print is a stickler. I know the guy who owns the company (I had the misfortune of working for him) and let's just say there's a reason he's rich.

They have a dreadful reputation. Having said that, I used to use them, they paid up no problem for a tendon injury and trailer vandalism but were VERY slow and difficult to contact.

I would say proceed with caution. Some people have had good experiences with them but they do have a bit of a bad reputation and some vets won't handle claims direct with them due to the time it takes to settle/whether they will settle at all, which means you'd have to pay the vet bill yourself and claim back from insurers.

I'm insured with them and they've always paid out, including one claim for thousands. If you have a legitimate claim and do all your paperwork and homework, then they can't NOT pay out.
I'm about to claim again for something that's a few hundred so ill let you know how that one goes.

Dizzy was insured with them. They paid for all of her remedial shoeing, every incident, her euthanasia and her being taken away. I can not fault them they even sent me a condolence card. They were slightly slow but didn't quibble a thing and the customer service was really good.

I was insured with them when my horse got cancer approx 18 years ago and my experience made me stop insuring and put money aside each month instead.I have saved a fortune in that time - have BHS gold for 3rd party liability and have been lucky with healthy horses.

Don't touch them. They are awful. We made the mistake of insuring two of our horses with them. They drag the claim out for months, you then have to threaten them with court and if your lucky then they will pay. Plus none of the vets practices will work directly with them because they can't get them to pay.

wow thanks for all your feedback guys, much appriciated, Ill stick with the slightly more expensive option. Though do think the idea of putting the equivilant money aside each month is great too. :)
