I'm looking forward to doing my first e-riders entry this month but can't decide which class/test to go with.

It's going to be an Intro class as it's been a while since I have done any canter work (though I am feeling good this week so may ask to do some in my lesson on Friday). There's five tests I can pick from across a few classes, either one of the e-riders tests or a BD one. RS horse would be eligible for the Veteran class (which uses an e-riders test) so that's an option too.

I know it probably doesn't matter and I just need pick one!

What is your aim?

If this is preparation for getting out to an in person show, I'd probably pick a BD test that I'd ride at a show.

If it's for fun, I'd pick one I liked the look of the most and suited me/my horse the most :)

I've tended to do the BD ones because it's practice for "real life". For their winter championships I had to do one BD and one e-riders test and the BD ones definitely flow better.

Well why don’t you just have a read through them and pick one that suits the horse …ie has movements that they and you find easy ?
Based on this I think I'm looking for one with minimal walking. His trot is better and we only have the two paces to show off!

Unlikely to get out to a real show at this stage, at most this year I think I can hope to do something at the RS.

The e-rider intros are normally easier than the BD intros (and you can enter restricted sections in the e-rider tests). But as they are still intros they've all been written by someone seemingly on crack.
This made me laugh out loud! I started yesterday with looking at the one they have for the Veteran class in June and was like wtf is this?! It's pretty much literally all circles or half circles.

That makes sense. I'd definitely like to get out there one day for a real in person show as I enjoyed the taster I got from doing a few RS ones last year. I've done Intro B before so I could refresh my memory for that and learn one of the e-rider ones then take both to my lesson this week and see how we ride them.

They were a bit of a shock to the system when I started taking BabyCob out. I didn't want to canter because life was exciting enough already but whereas the easy prelims from my youth had nothing more than cantering a 20m circle I found myself steering through 10m circles at trot, 3-loop serpentines and trotting a 20m circle giving away the rein contact.

I've decided to go for two tests, BD Intro B as I know that one already and I quite like riding it. And then e-riders Intro 1f which is the one with all the circles for something which feels quite different and means I can make an entry in the Veteran class :)

1f I did for the winter champs and it's very circly! I got good marks for my accuracy though which always helps. Good luck 🤞🍀

Thank you!

When I first looked at the test diagram I was like 'wait...what?!' but I have started learning it and after my lesson today I hope we'll do a fairly decent job.
