At just coming up to 10 months (gosh she's growing up so fast!

) I just wanted to check, am I right in thinking that's about the normal sort of age? And how long is it likely to be between now and the next one (It's been soooo many years since I went through this with Puppy I can't remember

)

I guess this does explain her wavering appetite lately.

Also, how much more growing do you think that she is likely to do? (Or roughly the age you would expect her to stop growing)

I thought with her mother being the spaniel she would be a touch bigger by now, but I quite like how pocket sized she has turned out as it doesn't stop the fact she is so super athletic

Thank you

Oh, also, another question, how long before people keep pointing at her and squealing "oooh a puppy" thinking she's a labrador?!

Anyway, does anyone care to guess how much more growing she might do?

Oh, and generally how long between seasons for dogs of this size?

Puppy was very infrequent and irregular.

Thanks

How long between seasons is like how long is a piece of string

The average is 6 months, but I have had bitches go 3 months upto 12 months. You are right that 10 months is about right for a first season, don't know if you are planning on havign her spayed but about 3 months after the season is usually recommended. I would think she has just about stopped growing although she may well fill out a bit, obviously inherited her dads size. You will always get idiots thinking she's a "baby" labrador I expect, we had a lancashire heeler and people thought she was a GSD puppy when she was 14 years old, just because she was black and tan and had prick ears

At least you don't get people thinking your well bred pedigree labrador is a labradoodle

Is not my fault people are used to seeing fat dollops with a smooth coat instead of athletic wavy coated working dogs (although I will admit that even a wavy coated working lab is not actually that common... there were four in his litter with wavy coats - the rest were smooth)

Anyway - I only know about boy dogs really... but have heard that seasons can be irregular as MM says - just depends on the dog.

In terms of growing - mine stopped growing in height at about 1 yr old - but spent the next year getting more 'solid' and stockier and generally maturing. I think he's stopped now and he is 2 1/2

We got Star at 10 months and I don't think she has grown much sinse - maybe a tiny bit. I wouldn't say popple will get much bigger.

Have you got any recent pics of her all grown up?

Every 6mths a bitch will come into season, usually have first season by 1yr old so 10mths is normal. They generally gain in appitite.

As regards to when they stop growing, I would say they grow in height up to a yr old but mature at 15mths to 18mths depending on the breed of dog! At 10mths she won't grow too much but will develop muscle and fill out!

Hope ths helps.
Sam

Thank you everyone for the replies,

I agree with what you all say, and shall presume that she is pretty much as big as she's going to get. Which although I expected her a little bigger, suits me just fine

I shall try and upload some more recent pic of Pops

Photobucket wouldn't play the game last time I tried.
