Ear mites?

Can horses get ear mites? If so has anyone eradicated them themselves or is it a vet job?

Any help appreciated thanks

The vet is now booked to take a look tomorrow but I would still be interested to hear if anyone has had a horse or pony with this problem

One of my youngsters got extremely itchy skin this summer on his face, neck and chest and poor thing scratched himself very badly and got bald patches. Vet said he thought it was a reaction to autumn (harvest?) mites and the horse was treated with Frontline spray and is thankfully fully recovered and winter coat has come through fine. Good luck.
