Any home / over the counter fixes?

Most vets don't want to cause one of the Grots any angst as he gets nervous and worried. He's okay with me poking about as a general rule.

I think both Grots have ear mites. Just started a few nights ago - they sleep in my room so I've heard the ear flapping. I've tried olive oil (extra vifgin, only the best for these hounds :D), and the flapping has reduced but I'm not convinced they've gone as yet.

Any suggestions?

I have had many recommendations for Thornit. It’s an old fashioned treatment in a way, but very non invasive for nervous ones. You just dust it round the inside of the ear, a small make-up brush is recommended. Loads of advice and reviews if you Google it.

Is the inside of the ear flap hot and inflamed? If not, then the olive oil is probably working. Are you in a sheep tick area? Also, maybe take a look through their fur, around the head and also mid spine area, to check for small patches of grit. If you find any, they are flea faeces - if you are not sure, drop a few onto damp kitchen roll. Flea droppings will turn into a red brown stain.
If all else fails and the itching continues, diet may be the culprit. Good luck!

Mine have been flapping their ears too. The older girl often get dirty ears and one was dirty when I checked last night. The younger one had beautifully clean ears but obviously very irritated by something. I treated both dogs with Otodine and thankfully the flapping seems to have stopped.

Thank you all. Much appreciated.

No swelling or redness. Shaking much reduced though still there.

Will try the options as would like it to clear up before it becomes a thing for either of them.

No signs of fleas and their flea treament is up to date.
