Getting up early is like taking off a plaster - you need to do it in one quick motion to minimise the pain!

The second your alarm goes, get out of bed - don't enjoy the warmth for a few minutes longer, just get up and don't get back in

This is the only way I can do it! Putting the alarm on the opposite side of the room helps too.

Put your alarm on the opposite site of the bedroom so that you cannot flap a hand out from under the duvet and hit it off while still asleep. I have to get up at 5.45 every morning for work and its the only way i manage it.

I have to get up at 5:15 to be out at 5:30 - 5:45 every morning

I tend to put an alarm on about 4 to pre wake me up lol then go back to sleep and then have another at 5 which is when I put my little travel kettle on (as I like a cuppa in the morning so have a little travel kettle by my bed) 5:15 my cuppa is ready when my last alarm goes off, I drink it and get up.

I have to get up at 5.30am two days a week to muck out before work and the best approach is an early night for me and get up as soon as the alarm goes

IACGMOOH is not helping this though!

He he, i would try that alarm, but my cat sleeps in the same room so it may just hit her.

my biggest problem is that i can turn the blooming thing off while still asleep - its so annoying!

also the thought of the bright light even if its a dim one is just awful.

but the getting up quick, im pants at but i will try it, im a "haaa a few minutes more" kind of person - then it turns out to be an hour!!

Ha ha Hornby - it works for me though. I have to be up that time 5 days a week. Early night is a good start.

HLB - Best option Is to just get straight out of bed (easier said than done I know)

Oh and to make sure Im up my mate who is also up at that mad time of morning texts me and I do the same to her to make sure we are both up.

I am terrible in the mornings and used to get up at 5.15am to do George (no more, thank goodness!), I put the alarm out of my reach but def in hearing distance so i had to get out of bed to turn it off. Also make sure the heating is on so it's not freezing when you jump up!

I have a timer switch on a dim lamp by my window, the timer i set 15 mins before my alarm and because it is by my window it is a little like having a sunrise!!!So when my alarm goes off...and i keep that out of reach too, my body is half awake. My phone clock also runs 3, 7 ,or 9 minutes ahead...alays an odd number which buys me a bit more time!!!I also always make sure i have something appetisingfor breakfast to look forward to...a nice choc croissant always lures me out of bed!!!

Set your central heating so it comes on at 5am... I get up at 5.30 to do the horses and ride before work and for some reason the heating was set for 7am when my husband and son get up! Its harder to get out of bed when its freezing outside.

I'm with you. I'd do mornings if they started later: much, much later, say around lunchtime

My alarm get sets at an odd time, say ten past the hour; then another one for ten minutes later, and if it's really important another one for ten minutes after that! Tomorrow I have to be up about half five to get the train to Edinburgh, so alarms will start going off at ten past five - I'll keep the snooze on each alarm, otherwise I'll be asleep again within seconds lol I find it helps to hve clothes close to hand - I find I'm half dressed before I'm awake.

i get up at 530 every morning to do my horses.
im also my OH's phone call alarm every mornig at 630 when i head out to work.

give me your number and ill ring you in the mornings

I've got a lumie natural dawn alarm clock & it's totally fab. It cost £100 but is sooooo worth it. I had to get up at 5.25 for one horrible winter cos I worked 70 miles away & worked 8 til 4 to miss the traffic. Without the lumie, when I woke up with the normal alarm clock, it was horrible - like trying to get going from a dead hlt, with the disorientating wtf is going on feeling. Using the lumie, by the time its alarm had gone off, I'd had 1/2 hour of iti gradually getting lighter which kind of eased me into the day.

It really, really does work.

(Now I work from home so can get up at 8.55 & be at work for 9. Plus the horses live at home so I can feed half dressed.
