How is it Thursday already? I am still so sore from the fall on Saturday that it feels like that happened yesterday. Not ridden Lottie again since, apart from the 'rebuild confidence' ride on Sunday. Just done some groundwork.
Have tried to ride Mouse though, and it HURTS. This weekend is a Joe weekend so I need to brush up on my homework for both Lottie and Mouse.

Apart from that, my daughter is going to Australia on Sunday for a RTW trip. I am a wreck! She seems so young!! And t'other daughter is back at Uni with son returning on Wednesday. Home alone and dreading it. (Well OH is there of course. But I really, really miss my kids when they are all away. The house is far too big and quiet without them. And it's a glimpse of the near future when they won't just go, but they will stop coming back as they get jobs, their own places etc. Of course they will visit but it is really not the same as them living here!

Still a Joe day will distract me very effectively. Can't wait for that.

Just another weekend of horse putting up with my whims.

In-hand session Fri. We were both getting a little tired of in-hand dressage, so our current in-hand sessions are me trying to recreate Crufts obedience routes with him. You have to make do without a dog.

Then a hack in hand on Sun, so he can stuff his face while complaining that I lied when I said he was getting fully retired this time.

Hope you’re feeling better soon! Not sure if they’ll work for you, but I find pain patches very good for post-fall soreness.

Farrier Friday evening, up to watch the western round-up on Saturday, and a lesson on Sunday :) For various reasons, Ambers has been off for two weeks, so the lesson is also support for the first ride back. This could be interesting.
I'm also hoping the new bit I ordered back in August finally arrives today, but I'm going to wait until she's back in regular work before I try it.

We are heading off for a weekend of camping and dressage tomorrow. I'm not riding until Sunday but it's familiar stomping grounds, and it's Mr 2's first time camping so we are treating it like a riding getaway! Looking forward to it but also a tad apprehensive.
I have a freestyle test and a regular test, hopefully henry decides that dressage wont kill him.

Arch has just had his final restart vaccination so a couple of easy days for him, but am laying groundwork for us to go to another dressage competition towards the end of the month without me losing the plot due to nerves. So loading practice starts again, and unpicking the 2 tests to figure out where our particularly iffy spots might be so we've got time to work on them.

I was toying with fun ride, but the microcob (my sane ride) spooked at a helium balloon in the hedge when we were cantering down the bridlepath and shot straight into the ploughed field and face planted. I feel a bit whiplashy and I thought she was ok until I asked her to take the longer hacking route yesterday and she said no. We diverted back via a field which is her normal canter route and she just wanted to walk which isn't like her. My poor riding partner was sitting 17h of annoyed warmblood who wanted his canter whilst telling me not to worry because it was good education for him and I just thought if my usually bouncy pony is ignoring all those antics then she's definitely not right. So hopped off and walked her home. Nothing obvious so hoping she just needs some bodywork and rest.

I'm not taking baby cob on a fun ride which has that many riders. He's being very full of himself and a bit obnoxious right now - so he's going down the road to a polework clinic instead. Someone on another thread said 5 year olds are like 15/16 year old human teenagers and yes, that is absolutely what I have. Cocky, knows everything and swaggering around. At home I can channel that into some quite nice work but away from home it all goes up a gear at the moment and he's being a bit of a brat.

Nada for us this weekend, we're at the vets Tuesday to be shod by their farrier as had some angle issues.

I did buy a video from earlier this season to make me feel better as feeling a bit glum- making what turned out to be a tough Waverton feel easy, just one moment where cocky Dima didn't listen to me telling him about the ditch! Can't believe we got speeding points watching this back, he doesn't look fast at all with his long stride.
watch with the volume up if you want to laugh at my enthusiastic praising all the way round 🙈

Big orange pet had his first long reining session, amazing how less than 10 minutes can give them so much confidence

When Bo was that age I always used to say that if he could have stomped up the stairs and slammed his bedroom door on me, he absolutely would have!

Hope you and AE are both feeling less achy very soon.

I have the weekend off!

We're going in the school tomorrow to have a play at an Intro test. I'd like to do some online dressage over winter just to keep me motivated to keep riding.

Going to a big tack sale on Saturday and hacking out on Sunday.

I look forward to the photos 😉

I'd been hopeful of making it down and meeting up with @chaps89 again but, alas, Chip 🙄🙈

Have fun!!

I can join in.
Down at Bury Farm for RC DTM Champs. Arrived yesterday and heading home on Sunday.
Got a class today, and another Sunday. On really late tonight, and then crack off dawn Sunday 🙈.

Arena walk today is at 7.15am.
I'm lying here awake at stupid o'clock, because someone went past at 4.20am dragging a trolley behind them. Now my brain has woken up and I can't get back to sleep 🙄.

Good luck! If it makes you feel any better I’ve been up since 3am too, jet lag is always fun

No particular plans but the field is still in stubble that we can access, so I will be going there for a workout with BH today. Tomorrow a friend and I are hacking the Trans Pennine to the pub! Sunday I may set BH to task with jumping at home again, starting with an oxer.

Good luck to all who are competing!

D went back to not wanting me to get on this week after being so good for a long while. She's also been less keen going downhill. I'm a bit stressed as my exams are approaching and work has been irritating so I haven't pushed it too much. I'm hoping she's just been hooning about in the wind or I'm imagining it. I've been doing some inhand stretchy work. Not very exciting.

I am recovering from a stupid head injury sustained on Tuesday when grooming the new pony on the yard. I don't know what happened I think I leant on her back but I ended up on the floor and my head hit the concrete hard. My oh and our handyman were standing over me to lift me back up and I threw up! The pony was standing still all innocent like! Massive lump on my head and very sore. Moral of the story always wear a hat around youngsters. My oh was not keen on me getting another pony and the I told you so could be heard for 100miles. Feel a bit despondent and hope I haven't made a big mistake.

BD tomorrow with old faithful Raz - he hasn’t been out since taking a chunk out of his shoulder back in May so it could be interesting.

I suspect he’ll be super spooky so will probably shove a couple of calming cookies at him before we leave.

Cas has a final lesson Monday afternoon and then we’re heading down to Arena UK on Tuesday for the petplan champs.

Think we’ll both be ready for a holiday by then 🥱

I hope you're feeling better soon. These things happen, so try not to over think it (and yes, the hat is probably a good idea for a while). I once ended up sat in the straw seeing stars having been bashed on the head by my pony's head. All she had done was go to chase away a fly on her shoulder as I was going under her neck.

Yikes sorry to hear about the incidents!

Fiddling around Saturday inc practising a dressage test. Then off to the south ox ride on Sunday. It’s a bit of a tradition now and always fun. I’m taking Finn who is fab at these rides - safe and comfy but nice and jolly. My friend is riding Bertie. He was a bit too jolly last time we did this ride but Id not had him that long. He’s more settled now so I’m hoping he’ll behave!

It's the South Ox ride I've bottled! I just didn't fancy the acrobatics
