i really want to be able to keep two horses but need to be able to find at least £250 extra every month, ideally i would like to earn this money at our livery yard like helping people or riding their horses, but i was wondering are there any other ways to make a little extra cash?

Would the yard owner be able to give you any jobs to do like poo picking, tidying up the yard, cleaning the tea room/toilet. Other things I can think of are tack cleaning, filling hay nets, (hate that job), even grooming or plaiting horses for shows, bathing in show season. Hope thats given you food for thought!

If not at the livery yard might you get a job elsewhere on freelance/part-time/flexoble hours if not I used to offer a show prep for like an all in one package at my old yard. I would wash, plait (if need-be but sometimes did if they said no just for the customer service ;) ) groom-make them shine!, clean tack and then I also offered an 'on the day groom service' lots of people loved this and I sometimes got a burger bought for me as a bonus on the day!!!! :D :p
It just meant I could run and get numbers, check timings, tack up, help rider get ready, put jumps up/down in warm up! people really enjoy company aswell! :D

Give it a go xx

I get €25 euro for plaiting a horse, the same for pulling a mane, €40 for both. Can you clip?? People pay silly amounts of money to get their horses clipped. My brother in law paid €90 to get his horse clipped, and another 20 for sedation. If you are good at that kinda stuff, word of mouth and you are sorted. And if you are clipping, unless you know the horse is really good to be clipped, insist on sedation, avoids accidents!!!

Hate to throw in a cuationary note here - but if you offer services for payment and the horse is injured you would be legally liable. Probably less likely on grooming etc, but clipping you do need to be more careful. I would hope that no-one would sue someone doing this sort of thing but these days you just don't know. If anything results in an insurance claim the insurance company might have a go off thier own bat too.

Don't let it stop you - just be careful.

Oh.. what about dog walking, baby sitting, house cleaning garden clearence etc? I know horses would be a preference but any money is better than none!
