There i was gardening away yesterday and I see a pait of brown cloth ears over the back garden hedge. I am lucky to know that my horse grazes away behind my garden in some 60 acres (with 25 others, livery, not my fields) anyway, here are this pair of ears, so i go into the kitchen, get the bag of carrots (which were for todays roast dinner) and javelin one after the other over the hedge. Yes its my mare, crunching away. Whats the problem with this you ask? Well, every time I open the patio she hears the door and comes running over and just stand waiting for it to rain carrots again! Should I do this or ignore her til she goes off grazing? She cant get though the hedge its too thick and tall, but not sure if its a good behaviour for her to learn!!

I live at the yard and my horses are in the field next to my cottage - over a hedge - and they hear me when I get up and my mare will start whinnying for her brekkie!!:D The dogs will barking will start her off as well! She is a cob so needs no encouragement at all.........;):D:D My WB is also out there but only joins in when she starts............:rolleyes:

When they are stabled in the winter their stables are in the barns the other side of the cottage and they are happy to wait for me to turn up and feed them BECAUSE they don't hear me get up!:)

I guess its up to you whether you keep doing it - for now it is just her but if the others are there to it may start a squabble over food.:o
