Can a horse control the way its ears move or they move according? There currently a horse on the yard and is being a strop. When people approach her ears go back. Is she controlling this as a threat, Or does it automatically happen before shes about to bite? Thanks.

hope its clear enough to understand.

i think they control them, never really thought about it before! i spose it's sort of automatic, like smiling when your happy, you can control it, but it sort of happens anyway...

my mare (miserable moo that she is ) will lay her ears back at anyone and everyone and which is ignored completely by all that know her. when she is scrapping with her neighbours over the stable wall her ears are flat back and you cant see them, then you really know she means business! so yep id say they have full control over their ears.
