Hi everyone,
Following the Sussex Police meeting about horse protection etc and other posts about attempted horse robbery i thought it might be a good idea to all refer to one post.
This way we can all keep fully informed about latest news around the area without having to look into hop from post to post incase we miss something.
It's just an idea to help everyone out a bit and keep fellow east sussex'ers safe as possible! I don't want to over react about the whole thing but these pricks are out there and i would rather take extra precautions then stick my head in the sand.
Ps. If anyone hasn't already done so already i fully suggest the following things:
1. Keep all relevant paper work safe like passport, vetting certificates, photos of markings, microchip/freezemark numbers.
2. Extra padlocks on gates and deterrent CCTV signs(even though these are breakable they will act as a deterrent to some extent)
3. Allow as much light as possible to fall on your fields/stables to give a easier view for any onlookers that are keeping an eye out for these guys.
4. Be vigilant to any changes or weird coincidences around your yard area. Closing/opening of doors, plaits in manes/tails, signs, things hanging in trees. Anything that is unusual, maybe even take a picture of anything untoward and write down dates and times.
5. CCTV/Guard Dogs if possible!
6. Ask any neighbours or surrounding houses to keep an eye out.
7. Tell all other horsey people in the area and yards or field livery's around your area who might not be aware.
If you do come across anyone please take note of any car's registration and also facial features, tattoos and names if used of the men. Camera's on your phone are a quick and subtle way of capturing footage so keep that in mind. Anymore ideas post below!!!
