Easytrek treeless saddles

I have read some negative comments somewhere (poss on here?) re. Easytrek saddles: particularly in relation to potential damage to the horse's back.

I have a lovely Exmoor saddle from "Tree Free" saddles, they're both Master Saddlers and have used that expertise into the design of their treeless saddles, they're based in Buckfastleigh, Devon. You can trial their saddles for £50 for the week which is well worth doing. They're also bringing out a GP model - I tried the prototype and it is DIVINE; so much so that I've got one on order!! These are lovely saddles and even lovelier people; there's no sales pressure or anything.

I've tried Barefoot's too OP, and can't get on with them either. A shame, as they're good, well designed saddles, but the sizing is the issue for me with them.

I like the look of the Exmoor (and it is for an Exmoor lol) but it's out of budget right now-was just curious about the Easytreks.

I have just sold a Torsion Soft and a Cheyenne. He's a very wide pony but does have a wither, both saddles looked big on him tbh and felt slippy (I also ride in a best friend pad which feels more secure) and I didn't like either without a pommel insert (but didnt try a wider one as wasn't convinced about spending the extra money). I am tempted to trial a Ghost but also, pretty sure the T4 Endurance will suit so might just get one of those-would just prefer one secondhand right now! Unless I get something with short panels, he'll not take bigger than a 16.5-which is not a deal breaker for what I want to do with him tbh. Swithering really!

I had a stint with an easytrek and honestly wouldn't buy another. It was ok for short rides etc but gave very little support and I really wasn't overly convinced about the proteciton for the horse. It does also depend on the model you're looking at as in my experience the ones with the metal wither arch thats supposed to be adjustable just isn't and has sharp edges that dig into the horse.

Completely second/third a Tree-Free, it's what I have now and I was lucky enough to get one from ebay for under £200 then bought the pad seperately.
