Eating b4 an event???

What do you guys eat b4 a big event or BE events??

I just cant eat in the mornings and end up going the whole day not eating!! Which was kinda ok on 1 horses but I have 2 to event thi season!!

And I rode 4 times today at JAS and didnt eat till now!!!

Any ideas!

You can't beat a Mars Bar for energy.

I didn't eat much, if anything, but now, when I'm needing energy and can't eat, it's a Mars...
 
The best thing you can eat is a banana! The potassium levels raise your energy and you don’t get that post sugar slump thingy going on. Remember to drink lots of water too. I am terrible for eating but someone told me that ages ago and it works!
 
CERTAINLY NOT! and it can take me the evening or even the next day before i can eat something. its not that i feel sick, but my tum gets heavy and twisted!
plus if i dont eat, im lighter and flint can jump higher! lol
 
I had this problem doing juijitsu gradings. If you really cant eat then try either locosade or water/ squash with glocose added, sipped frequently.

The day before try to have some pasta, jacket potato or porridge as all are slow burning energy foods.

Bananas are fab too. Try not to eat to much chocolate as you'll get sugar slumps.

You may find you eat something like a mars bar or something and can then manage to eat something else- bit like bribing your body really lol.
 
Lucozade all day & try a banana. I normally manage a burger between SJ & Xc if there is time but I get awfull cramp if it's less than 2 hours before my start time.
 
Well i dont do major comps but when im at a show i dont eat, im too busy to eat plus its nerves i think, sometimes i get a mars bar to get a bit of energy but as soon as my classes are done i slob around in show gear, unzip boots etc and eat a burger.

Yes you want to eat a banana and failing that try to get one of those fairly healthy flap jacks...they are great and I take them on my endurance rides with me because bananas can be a bit messy with the horse and reins!!! But a banana is good before you mount.
 
Whatever Comp i do - big or small, i cant eat before hand. Bad i know. I end up not eating untill we are driving home in the lorry (mum does me something ready like a cob

I used to think that I couldn't eat before riding in a race due to my nerves, but I've found that if I just make myself start to eat I'm actually OK. Now I usually stuff my face with chips and mushy peas and chocolate before getting changed, and drink lots of water, because it might just reduce the amount of lead I'll have to lug from the weighing room to the lorry;P I also try to have something like weetabix or porridge first thing in the morning to give me lots of energy.
 
I never eat before but there is nothing more satisfying than a bacon roll or cheeseburger afterwards!!!! Wiv tommy sauce and a bit of yellow stuff! YUMMY!!!!
 
I could never eat before an event i would just drink lots of lucozade. my boss played a mean trick on me once. I had 5 horses to do as well as competing my own that day so as soon as we got there he went off to get numbers and came back with 2 bacon and egg baps. i didn't think anything of it and ate mine. BIG mistake I got on 1hour later having already got two of his ready, dressaged and set for jumping (lots of running around!!) i started warming up and started feeling sick, got back to the lorry after doin dressage and was looking very green for the next two hours!!
 
Im the same before I event, I cant eat anything. I had some great advice given by a PT to one of the top eventer, he told me to eat small pieces of chopped dried fruit! Its really good, just pick at it, as you dont feel like your stuffing yourself, and the red berries mixture is yummy!
 
I love my breakfast but morning of events i normally dont like anything or very little. Try and have a piece of toast.
But all day i make sure i have a bottle of water, or sugary tea. Eventing I drink plenty of black coffee, its really good for you to drink before going xc - my boss used to race run a lot and he said that drinking coffee before a race really helped keep him focused.
Eventing the Coffee Man is great cos he has fabulous coffee and yummy snacks

I also take mum with me to events and once ive finished competing I will eat so she makes me bacon and egg rolls in the lorry! good old mum.
But i would def recommend drinking energy drinks all day if you really dont like bananas/water or Mars bars.
 
I generally dont eat before any events! and that includes showing inhand!!

i find lucazade 'berry' good for keeping energy up and personally i find savery (sp?) easier to eat than sweet - mars bars etc just make me fee VERY sick.

my mum got very good at bringing a selection of 'nibbles' for me!!
things like hoola hoops, mini sausage rolls, really nice cheese and onion bread rolls (unfilled) bacon sarni (for afterwards)
(she gets very stressed if i dont eat!!)

bless her!! i think i need to train OH to be as good!
 
I cant eat before I've finished generally, sometimes I can if I have a long wait aft6er dressage before sj but otherwise, just makes me feel ill!!
 
Oh lordy - NOTHING!! I couldn't even eat until after B & H had completed their class at Devon County last year (class at 3pm) and I wasn't even taking them in the ring!!
