Eating dog in the UK?

Not really a worry IMO. It's prohibited to import and export dog and cat meat, my father used to work in portal inspection looking for animal products so I know for a fact that luggage is checked in a number of different ways, and I imagine anyone trying to kill or eat a domestic animal would be prosecuted under existing theft, cruelty or welfare laws. Looks to me like a case of not adding an unnecessary/superfluous law to the books, and the right wing press whipping up a bit of anti-immigrant hysteria about it, unfortunately.
I don't recall my father or his team intercepting anything of that nature. I've never seen concrete proof that it's an issue in the UK,

Thank you for your very sensible point of view, CC.

I wouldn't have minded one more little law just to rule out the possibility completely.;)
