Here's one for the nutrition experts :D

My whippet seems to be addicted to eating grain and as we have piles of it stored at home in the barn it is becoming a problem. He looks well and has a lovely shiny coat but the grain makes him fart dreadfully :( He also eats grass all the time and if I put leftover veg in his dinner he will often eat that before the biscuit  He is currently fed IAMS which he does better on than the James Wellbeloved he was on previously. I presume he is short of something in his diet but he is the only one of all the dogs who does this - even the JRT who normally eats anything she can fit in her gob

Help please!!

I would try feeding him something more nutritious than IAMS. The only time my old dog ever tried to steal anything or eat the grain was when he was fed a poor quality food.

How about skinners?

To be honest he probably won't be short on grain eating Iams, Carbs are addictive and leave you hungry after a short while and that's in his food so that's probably why the interest in the grain store.

Can't really comment between commercial feeds as I don't feed them because they have too much carbs and often contain hidden nasties.

Do you really think Skinners is better quality than IAMS? There is a higher meat percentage in the IAMS and my skinny lurcher has never looked so well since being on it
