Eating mud

My horse has started to lick/eat the mud. Guess this means she Is lacking in something?
she has a salt Lick and a mineral lick and is fed chaff, a balancer and hay.
any ideas?

Frank ate mud even with minerals balanced to forage. They always seem to have favourite lick spots. I have always left him to it. :D

Same. I’m never too bothered by mud licking. I’m pretty sure they would do it in the wild?
I draw the line at poo eating.... that bothers me!

My cob has always created a lick patch around this time of year so the grass must be lacking something......he self regulates and tends to stop on his own accord too.
