Over the weekend my 15 year old mare suddenly decided to turn into a beaver!!!!

She has all but eaten through three fence posts and is busy working on the rest!

I went out last night and smeared Cribox on the lot of them so will hopefully put her off.

She's never done this before- is she lacking in vitamins or minerals? She's not getting any hard feed at all at the moment as she is the size of a house and is only ridden a couple of times a week.

Any suggestions before she eats her way through the hole fence!?

Thanks!

My horse does the same if she is bored or there is not enough in the grass for her. All the time she is in the lush grass field she is happy, turn her out in the field that is more sparse she starts eating - minx

She's got plenty of grass- hence the reason she's a bit lardy- not sure if it's because she's in season and my gelding is next door?

Cider vinegar is supposed to be a cure for wood eating. Must contain a vit or min lacking in diet. Also wonderful stuff for general health in horses and humans.
