Ebay and saddles

Hi all.
I purchased a second hand thorowgood t6 cob on eBay and it arrived today.
Saddler is coming to fit and adjust this week, however when I've got it out of the box there were a few more scratches/damage than mentioned in the eBay listing.

The only thing mentioned was a scuff on the cantel, seller sent more photos, fine as it's barely noticeable.
However when unboxed there's stitching missing each side where the stirrup keepers have rubbed and a large hole in the underside near where the gullet fits.

I'm not really happy about this, I specifically messaged the seller about any damage and she said it was in excellent condition. I'm reluctant to try and return as this is the only affordable saddle for my cob right now, but I'm not happy that the damage wasn't mentioned. Is there anything I can do? I'm just a bit annoyed as it wasn't mentioned, it seems that it's a matter of principal to me to mention all damage with photos on an advert, not only mention on scuff and sell for a good price to an unsuspecting buyer :(
 
Keep it or return it are the only options, you could ask the seller for a goodwill part refund, but that is really down to them if they agree.

If you think you won't be able to live with it, return it. Log the return as 'item not as described' and explain why. Take photos.

Ebay will send you a return label to print out so it won't cost you anything to return it. You should get your payment and postage fees back in full.

It's hard for a seller sometimes to describe items. I try to describe as accurately as possible, and take photos if there is any issue that I need to point out for a listing, but some sellers really are a bit - ahem - cheeky!

I can live with the damages, it doesn't affect the use of the saddle and it's going on a rising 5 year old so will probably have more damage over the coming years, I'm just annoyed that the seller didn't mention anything despite me messaging her 5 times with queries and questions.
I think I'll speak to the seller and see what she says
 
I picked up an old and fairly worn Barnsby a few months back the advert stated it had been checked by a saddler and that the tree was perfectly sound, then I put it in storage until my 4 year old was brought back into work. Had the saddler out and sent it for a restuff to be told by the saddler that the front plate was in pieces, Contacted seller and they told me pretty much you did the damage leave me alone and as as I'd left positive feedback after it arrived as it looked exactly like the pictures they weren't going to even talk to me about it 🙄.

Complete pain in the butt and luckily I had another saddle that fits him ok for the moment.
 
It's a bit of a nightmare as a buyer and a seller of saddles on eBay. I still use it though as it's usually the quickest way. OP I would contact the seller and explain the issues and ask if she would make a good will partial refund. Send pictures too. If she's uncooperative then I would leave neutral feedback.
 
Contacted seller. Her response was that she couldn't be expected to go over the saddle with a fine toothed comb. I just mentioned that the damage was significant and should have been mentioned. I left neutral feedback for the seller, it's not fair to sell a saddle and describe it as excellent condition with no damage to an unsuspecting buyer.
 
I never sell anything with damage anywhere if it is scruffy but clean and useable I sell it cheap at a table top sale so people can see what they are buying. Have seen on fb the dirty rugs, saddlecloths, boots and even bits people sell and say they need a wash. It is not attractive.
 
You really should open a returns. Seller will have to pay returns postage. What is the saddle worth now compared to what you paid for it? You can state you will accept a partial refund but if seller wants it back then you will have to return. You have 30 days on eBay to open a case and 180 days on PayPal.

Nope, not acceptable! IF she said it was in "excellent condition" then I wouldn't expect damage of the sort OP describes.

I would be taking this up with e-bay i.e "Open a Dispute" and let them sort it out if you've had no joy from the seller.
