Being an ebay newbie I am not sure what the rules are on this but I have had my bridle on Ebay and its ending tomorrow - I have had someone message me asking me would I sell below asking price if they collected tomorrow?

I dont know a) if this is allowed or could it be a scam - I dont know. I think i will say if it doesn't sell as it is, I will relist at that price and they can buy it now. Does that sound fair? I dont think what the buyer is suggesting is fair on the other people who might want to bid genuinely - am I right?

Yes thats correct, if you don't get any bids above your reserve or if someone bids and then doesnt pay (yes, it does happen!) you can send another bidder a second chance email.

If this person is offering silly money I would wait and take your chance.

The thing is the price they are offering is a little lower than I would like - I could add a buy it now option, but because they are there waiting for it - they will clearly be the ones to buy it now - and the other people who are watching my item wont get a chance. BUT I obviously want to sell it

argh - be fair or get some money for it?

Not sure of the rules on that one, but I'd tell them to bog off. But then I'm quite mean spirited when it comes to ebay chancers

. If it doesn't sell jazz up your description and take a better photo

If you decide to take lower offer you could always ask them to send the payment by paypal (as gift then you don't pay fees!) and if payment received withdraw item and then no final added value fee either

So you do save a bit on paypal fees and ebay fees which will help with lower offer difference.

can I just say doing this may save fees but takes away the usual protection ebay/paypal offer

Don't let it go cheaper!! I'm a ebay vetran and most items get the bids in the closing minute of the auction. You may find that you get a great price it, but almost certainly you will get more than what they are offering. If they are that bothered let them bid!

I think I am going to - I have 15 people watching it, which might bode well so I thnk I'll let it bid out and if it doesn't sell, I will relist at her price and she can buy. Its only fair I feel.

I agree with you.

If it doesnt sell you may have several offers!

So I would hang on. Plus if you have watchers some may bid at the last minute. It is what I do!

If you have 15 watchers, I think it will sell & you will probably make much more if you let it run. If it doesn't sell you can contact the person who contacted you afterwards & come to an agreement. good Luck!

I'm pretty sure it will sell, just had a look at the listing and If I was wanting one, I would pay more than the starting price

Agree with Bubbles, I can't stand them so tell em to get lost cos I put it in auction only format for a reason grrrrrr LOL

Don't sell it to this person for less than you want for the item.

Tell em the lowest price you'll take is the reserve price, and you'd rather let the auction run to the end to see who bids before you reconsider.

I never do B.I.N. as the auction sale nearly always raises more!
