Hi,
Has anyone ever disputed anything on ebay? How was it resolved?

I bought what was advertised as an adjustable thorowgood, i even asked specific questions about it (fish system or changable gullet) and the saddle that arrived is not ajustable.

Am really cross!!

Always contact the seller first - if you have a problem go to ebay resolution centre. They are helpful and sort out the problem as a third party so you shouldn't get personally involved. Most people want to keep their stars so are happy to refund.

Contact seller if no joy file a dispute (ebay rules will guild you through what to do). I got a refund on a saddle which was not as described, though irritatingly it still cost me in lost postage.

I've just bought a lovely full size martingale off ebay - and its a bloody pony size! Contacted seller over a week ago...still no reply. Not a saddle I know, but annoying all the same!

If it doesn't have adjustable gullets, does it have a hole for an Alan key on the pommel? I had a thorowgood a few years ago that was adjustable in this way but it wasn't adjustable as we know it now, just a thought!

You'll have to return it at your expense, send it with a tracking system (parcel force, recorded delivery or similar) so seller can't say they haven't received it. The problem with "not as described" disputes is that eBay/paypal will hear both sides of the story then decide who they believe. They won't look at the item. It's a bit pot luck, but the system is generally biased in favour of the buyer. Be aware of time limits and don't let the seller stall until you're over time.

Not everyone uses a computer daily though, some only check eBay/email if they have something to sell. So if the seller doesn't respond you can ask eBay for their contact details and phone them. They'll be given yours too. Exact addresses are not given, they leave out the road. Search the eBay help pages to bring up the request form.
