eBay hassle selling tack!! I am angry..

Out of interest, how do ebay work out what the part payment cost is? Is it a % of the sale or something? I've used Ebay for years (buying and selling) and never come across this where the buyer can keep an item and get some money back... sounds very odd. I thought it was simply return item for full refund, that's what I did recently with a bust iphone I bought - had to prove postage my end and he signed for it other end for the refund.

ebay dont - either the seller or buyer can offer or suggest a part refund and specify amount.

i sold a new gilet a few months back. The buyer complained and opened a case saying it wasnt new as there was a mark on it. They requested through the dispute console that i refunded a tenner to make up for it (and they got to keep the gilet). I said no way and was adamant i had been honest , i also uploaded a pic of it before i sent it and requested they provided a pic showing the mark. They never did, the dispute ran for 4 weeks until ebay automatically closed it in my favour ;)
 
This is week 3 of my dispute, the buyer did not contact me just opened a case with eBay, who then froze my PayPal acc! There is nothing I can do till it's resolved, I do hope that come week 4 they will close it and it will be done and I don't have to refund. I honestly do not know how the buyer allways seems to win. She will not correspond with me just through eBay. I will not refund £10 as I know nothing was wrong with the martingale and saddle cloth. I have just sent another message to eBay stating I want goods back and will refund including return postage, tried calling Ireland also, gave up after 30 mins on hold as the call charges would be more than the. Outstanding dispute!

have you tried the online chat with one of the ebay team?
 
Don't back down, this has happened to me twice and both times Ebay have told them to return the item to get the refund. Then the buyers lose interest and you don't hear from them. If they leave bad feedback you can get it removed although I'm not sure how you do this. I have a Neutral spoiling my 100% positive fb, left by some idiot that didn't even pay and then wondered why I re-listed after 7 days:)
I also had one try for INR, it miraculously turned up when he was sent the tracking number along with a photo copy of his signature that said he'd received the parcel!

Also, report them for misuse of buyer protection, they don't like that. These games never used to happen until they stopped Negative Feedback for buyers.
