Can anyone help me please? I keep getting an e mail supposedly from e bay saying that I haven't sent an item and that I will be contacted by the police soon. Now I have NEVER put anything on E bay. Don't even know how to. What can I do?
Any advice please. Could it just be a scam?

Don't reply to it.
Get in touch with the help line on ebay 020 8080 2105.
I'd sit it out, if the police DO come round (very doubtful) you have nothing to hide, you've done nothing wrong

It's a scam. Don't bother phoning eBay, mail it to spoof@ebay.co.uk. They will mail you back telling you it's a spoof. Then ignore it.

BUT

if you have clicked on any of the links contained in the email then you need to do a thorough security check / password changes.

DO NOT REPLY I had this about 2 years ago from someone sayng i had not sent them an item and they had paid. i replied saying i had not sold them anything and then i could not get on to my email or e bay they had my passwords somehow. They had listed expensive items on ebay in my name. I had to freeze all my accounts pay pal etc £90 was due to go out that day. Luckily i realised straight away as i am on my computer a lot but had i not gone on for a few days it could have been thousands. Nasty people!!!!!

Its a scam, just ignore it.

They are designed to get ebayers to divulge their log in details or worse still paypal passwords.
just ignore them , do not open them.

If its bugging you block sender in your email programme.
If you have outlook express click on the massage tab at the top of the page and then this will open a link to Block Sender.

Hope this helps

Thanks for all your responses. I haven't replied but was getting worried as it keeps re appearing in my e mail. This is what is says:
"Dear Member,
You have a message in your eBay message center:

Hi again, i have no laptop from you by now if i don`t get an answer in 24 hours i will report you to eBay , PayPal and Police." It comes from "member@ebay.co.uk"
It then goes on to list the item.
As I said Thank you all for your help. It has put my mind at rest.

Definitely a spoof.

If genuine, it will be addressed to your full name and will be in your My Messages in your Ebay account.

Send it to the spoof email addy given above, it helps Ebay to keep a track of what phishing emails are going around. Then delete it and forget it.

The easiest way to check these things is to log into you ebay account (NOT EVER VIA A LINK) and check *My eBay* and see if you have any messages. ALL eBay generated messages are sent to your eBay inbox as well as your email, so check there first, and if it isn't there, delete the message and forget about it

Thank you everyone. You have all been brilliant help.
It is scary how scumbags can get your details. The really scary thing is that although I registered a long time ago I have NEVER bought or sold. I only occasionally go to the site just to look out of interest.
Anyway I really appreciate your help. Thank you.

I have had a lot of these and similar that appear to come from Paypal. I always send them to Spoof @... and slowly but surely they all stopped.

However, my spam mail always goes up after I have bought something using Paypal. If I don't buy anything for a while, the spam stops, as soon as I buy, it starts up again.

Scary!
