Daughter has just set up a paypal account and an ebay account.

She put two dresses and a phone on ebay for sale. One dress and the phone have sold, however it says 'payment pending' for both of them.

Paypal doesn't show any money received or anything saying pending.

It's been a week now and they have said 'pending' since about a day after the auctions ended.

Any suggestions?

She hasn't had any emails from the buyers yet.

Had very similar problems myself. Eventually discovered there was a problem with the link between my eBay account & my PayPal account so the payments didn't go through completely. I had to contact the buyers and request they represent the payments direct to PayPal, if you give them your daughters email address they can pay you this way. Eventually had to go into eBay account delete the PayPal link and then redo it all & this does seem to have sorted the problem. Hope that makes sense & hope you get it sorted

That happened to me once when I listed a couple of items on eBay. The problem I had was when I wrote the listing and selected PayPal as payment method eBay asked you to enter your PayPal email address which I did, but I made a slight error when putting in my email address. so when buyers payed me it showed as pending because the email was wrong, say to your daughter to check it and if it is the case she would be best to speak to the buyers and explain what's happened as she would need them to cancel the payment at their end and the pay directly through PayPal to the correct email address. Hope this helps and if you need anything else I'll try to help xxx

Or be pretty darned cross as they have paid a week ago and not yet received their goods, the problem is at the sellers end, not theirs!

YES, WE KNOW THIS :(

Both buyers have withdrawn their payments.

Daughter recognises that the fault is at her end and is not chasing the buyers for payment.

She is exploring ebay to find out why her paypal account is not linked and to see if she can get her seller/listing fees refunded.

Sometimes payments go through as an echeque and these can take ten days to clear, its happened to me twice, once when I was newly registered and once quite recently. I never got to the bottom of the reasons why but that may have been the case here so it's worth a google

I recently started selling a few bits and bobs on eBay, on the 1st item to sell it came up as payment pending, after looking into it I realised I had to upgrade my paypal from the basic to the premium account, the bog standard paypal doesn't accept money's coming in, as soon as I had upgraded the money was straight in there. :)

Ok, will look at that.

Daughter has just 'disconnected' her paypal acc from ebay and has now reconnected it. So we will see what happens

I think payment goes through as an echeque if you have your paypal account set to be funded from a bank account instead of from a debit card - if you pay for something with paypal and don't have funds in your account, then it takes a while for paypal to get the funds from your bank account.

As a new ebayer and paypal customer you wiki need to verify you arw genuine.
Before doing this money will go through as echeques which take ages to clear!
Look on paypal for for details of how to become verified.
